Midrange Sony LED TV a good value

The relatively affordable ; offers deep-enough black levels for the money and commendable color saturation. The design is attractive and the menu system is easy to use.

We detected a couple of uniformity issues, black areas can look blue under lights, and shadow detail isn't up there with the better TVs. The wireless dongle takes up a USB port. The SEN portion of the Smart TV interface is so slow that it's kind of a...

Sony's EX640 series is one of the better deals from the company, with decent picture quality and features for the price.

Sony Bravia KDL-40EX640

The excitement of having online features is now just wearing off. We were ecstatic that a TV could be so much more than just a display for a cable box; something to connect to the internet and therefore the world! Now that the fiery honeymoon period...

Great connectivity ; Decent all-around performance

Not the Smart TV we want to use ; Uniformity issues again rear their ugly head

The Bravia KDL-40EX640 ($899 MSRP) is a low-end, 1080p Smart TV from Sony in 2012. We like that they are producing a cheaper Smart TV, hitting a niche audience that wants online features, no 3D, and a good television.

Sony KDL-40EX640 Review – 40-inch LED LCD HDTV

The 40inch model is one of the non-3D HD TV sets launched by Sony. It does not support 3D technology, but the overall video quality offered by the model will complement a wide variety of traditional and 2D digital content. Further, a user can access...

Sony has further designed the model with built in Wi-Fi and web browser to provide users with a much better and convenient wireless connectivity. The Sony Entertainment Network integrated with the model allow you to stream online content from popular...

"WASTE OF MONEY. Do NOT BUY this TV!"

"Piece of junk"

TV screen goes off and will not come back on without unplugging it and restarting it. WiFi adapter will not work and Sony support has no answer to fix it. They can't even figure out how I can turn it in for service.

Nice picture and a good price

I love it when it works, but that is very rare. Sony support is worthless. DO NOT BUY THIS TV

Nice TV but one audio "gotcha" got me

The TV meets my expectations for picture quality and internet connectivity, but I can't say that it really exceeds them, so I would have given it 4 stars, but because of the the problem with its audio output, it gets 3 stars.

Good picture

Fiber optic audio output fails on some sources
