Sony Bravia 7 TV review: superb brightness and color, but... | Digital Trends

The Sony Bravia 7 is really good — if you can overlook two pretty major caveats.

Bright and vivid ; Excellent black levels/contrast ; Extremely accurate HDR/Color ; Top-tier motion/upscaling ; Easy to use

Limited viewing angle ; Poor reflection handling

“Insanely great picture quality comes with a big caveat.”

Sony Bravia 7 Mini Led

Sony's Bravia 7 mini LED TV offers fantastic performance with one serious stumble.

Excellent clarity and motion handling. Rich and natural quantum dot color reproduction. Punchy brightness in both HDR and SDR. Good contrast and black levels. Intuitive and generally responsive Google TV interface. Plenty of gaming features like VRR,...

Surprisingly bad off-axis performance. Only two HDMI 2.1 ports (one of which is also for HDMI eARC). Middling 720p upscaling. Occasional minor blooming. Not as blazingly bright as cheaper Hisense and TCL rivals.

Sony Bravia 7 Mini-LED TV Review Sony Bravia 7 Mini-LED TV Review

The Sony Bravia 7 Mini-LED TV represents a significant step forward in Sony's 2024 strategy, showcasing the brand's renewed emphasis on Mini-LED technology.

Very high brightness, reaching nearly 2,000 nits in HDR ; Excellent gaming support with HDMI 2.1 features ; Multiple stand configurations for versatile placement ; Impressive built-in audio with dual woofers and tweeters ; Fantastic contrast ratio of...

Only 2 out of 4 HDMI ports support full HDMI 2.1 bandwidth ; Poor viewing angles compared to some competitors ; Reflective screen can be problematic in bright rooms

Sony Bravia 7 Review: A Solid Choice So Long as You Don't Mind Following the TV's Lead

It may not be quite as cheap as TCL or as incredible as the Bravia 9, but the Bravia 7 mini-LED is no slouch in all the ways that really matter.

Great HDR capabilities ; Relatively clean Google TV-based interface ; A good choice for PlayStation 5-specific gaming

Glare issues in direct light ; Off-angle viewing is quite bad compared to more expensive options ; There's only one 4K 120 Hz HDMI port

Bravia 7 Mini-LED QLED 4K TV It doesn't quite meet the bar set by Sony's own Bravia 9 mini-LED, but it's still a great TV, so long as you ignore the off-angle viewing issues. In a crowded market for QLEDs, Sony's Bravia 7 doesn't do too much to stand...
