Sharp Aquos LC-52XS1E 52in RGB-LED LCD TV

Does the Sharp LC-52XS1E produce the best flat TV picture ever? For its price, we should hope so!

Sharp LC-52XS1 review

This LED-backlit TV from Sharp is extraordinarily expensive, but as a technology showcase it does much to impress

Superb clarity and contrast ; clean, noiseless backgrounds ; gorgeous design

It costs about five times as much as most same-sized competitors

Elegant and very capable, this is a highly desirable TV that would sell at a lower price. However, at nine grand, it's up against some stiff competition

Sharp LC-52XS1E review

Sony's £9,000, 52" flagship thinscreen LCD

Gorgeous aesthetics ; Rich, involving pictures with HD and SD

Complicated setup ; Satellite tuner not HD-capable

A perfect synergy of art and science from Sharp

Sharp LC-52XS1 review

Sharp's flagship packs an enormous amount of tech into its slim, beautifully finished chassis – but it also costs more than a car. A half-decent one, at that…

One of the very best for picture and sound quality, but only oligarchs can afford it

Sharp Aquos Limited Edition LC-52XS1U-S

The Sharp Aquos Limited Edition LC-52XS1U-S has a lot of potential that it's not living up to.

Excellent picture contrast and HD detail. Energy efficient.

Very expensive. Requires professional setup. Overly colorful picture.

Sharp Aquos LC-52XS1U-S LCD HDTV First Impressions Review - Intro

The LC-52XS1U-S is a 54-inch LCD that most people will never be able to afford. The TV is priced at $12,000, which means that, as great as it is, there's really no way it could be adopted by mainstream purchasers. Chances are there's also a few TVs out...

The LC-52XS1U-S is an absurdly attractive TV. It is also absurdly expensive; prohibitively so. It's really a shame too, since if it were priced just a few hundred dollars above most TVs its size, it'd be a great deal. At $12,000, no typical consumer...

Sharp Aquos LC-52XS1U-S Limited Edition LCD HDTV

Less than two years after I accompanied a group of American journalists on a visit to a new Sharp factory, the company has developed yet another new plant. This one can support an even larger mother glass. On that same visit, we also witnessed examples...

Sharp LC-52XS1U-S LCD Flat Panel

At last year's CEDIA Expo, Sharp unveiled it's first LCD TV with LED backlighting and local dimming. Not only that, it's ultra-thin—about 1 inch at the top and side edges, thickening to 2 inches in the middle. The image it produced on the show...
