Samsung UNB8000 review: Samsung UNB8000

Samsung UNB8000

Produces relatively deep black levels; mostly accurate color; very good dejudder processing; sleek styling with 1.2-inch thick panel; extensive feature set with Yahoo Widgets, network streaming, and lots of built-in content; energy-efficient.

Expensive; less uniform screen than other LCDs; poor off-angle viewing; lower contrast in dark scenes; shiny screen can cause reflections in bright rooms; benefits of 240Hz difficult to discern; scarce analog video inputs.

The expensive, stylish Samsung UNB8000 series has its share of picture quality drawbacks, but a firmware update helps, and the thin frames are worth serious bragging rights.

Samsung UN55B8000 – Really thin TV

Samsung UN55B8000 belongs to Samsung's repertoire of the edge-lit LED based LCDs TVs and the company is calling it LED TVs. The UNB8000 series is different from the cheaper siblings due to the 240Hz processing and if you wondering if this feature is...

Samsung 55in. UN55B8000 LED HDTV

Before we really begin, let's take a quick refresher course on LCD TV Technology. Remember, this is not a "LED" TV, it's backlit by LEDs, but still uses an LCD panel.

240Hz Auto Motion Plus for smooth playback ; Good contrast ratio - blacks are very black ; Thin panel and lots of HDMI inputs ; Accurate color out of the box ; Widgets allows rich (albeit limited) internet media without a HTPC ; Main UHF remote control...

Widgets are a little sluggish ; Only one set of component inputs

Bigger is better when it comes to TVs and the more I use 50"+ units, the more I like them. The 55" LED lit LCD TV from Samsung is a nice improvement over traditional CCFL lit LCDs and the color setup and lighting uniformity on this unit is very good....

After over a month and a half of daily use, the Samsung UN55B8000 can be summed up as a mixed bag of great and not so great characteristics. The first thing to mention and the distinguishing feature is the 1.2 inch depth profile. There is no consumer...

Samsung UN55B8000 Review – 55-inch LED HDTV

Because of LED technology, the Samsung UN55B8000 is extremely thin in design. It is hardly more than an inch in depth at the thickest positions. This gives a sleek look to the TV. With a slim bezel and matching stand, this HDTV has looks to catch the...

The TV tested very well in when we ran it through a series of processor video board testing

Rebecca Dimornay more recently in Wedding Crashers. A clearer presentation but notice the over saturated white suit coat

SAMSUNG 55" 1080p 240Hz LED-LCD HDTV UN55B8000

This tv is awesome. The picture is so vivid and clear its almost like being there. It takes a little while to get used to the settings but it is well worth it

Other than the price, I haven't seen any yet and its been almost a year. The price is much better now than when I got it, just over $3500

Amazing Picture, with one (small) caution worth noting...

First, let me say that the picture on this television is, simply put: AMAZING. Blu-Ray and other 1080p content is a pleasure to watch--just as an example: my family watched Tinkerbell and Avatar on Blu Ray the week we got the television and spent ...

Amazing picture, truly one of the best out there today

Heavy and at its price point, it's clearly a premium buyer's television
