Samsung TU8500 review (UE50TU8500): an excellent cheap 4K TV, and a T3 Award winner

 

The Samsung TU8500 brings good video performance and a great, easy-to-use smart platform that will make it a winner for casual viewers

Solid picture performance for the price ; Lighting fast Game mode ; Comprehensive smart TV platform

Not the brightest HDR performer ; No Freeview Play ; No Dolby Vision

The Samsung TU8500 gives you a cheap 4K TV that doesn't feel bargain-bin. It may lack the picture prowess of more expensive QLED Samsung TVs, but it retains much of the usability, crucially.

If you're looking for a well specified 4K smart TV that doesn't come with a premium price tag, the TU8500 is well worth a shout. Here's why.

Tizen smart TV platform ; Low latency Game mode ; Value for money ; Dolby Atmos audio pass-through

Pictures not particularly cinematic ; No Dolby Vision support ; No Freeview Play ; Average onboard audio

It may not be aimed at AV enthusiasts, but enjoyable picture quality, solid Tizen smart platform and a stonking gaming performance make this affordable Samsung 4k set a value winner.

Easy to set up.picture quality excellent, no complaints so far ,still alot to find out about it .great apps always find something to watch. Only issue is the sound quality but a soundbar sorted that out.
