Samsung PS51E490

Fancy a 51-inch 3D plasma TV that costs less than £600? Then say hello to the Samsung PS51E490.

Remarkably cheap for a 51in 3D TV, Minimal crosstalk with 3D images, HD images look decent enough

Rather soft standard def images, Colour, motion and resolution issues with 3D, No smart TV functionality

Samsung PS51E490 review

A cheap but still desirable 51-inch plasma TV

Outstanding value for money ; Supports 3D playback ; Good HD/3D picture quality ; Decent audio

No online features ; No integrated Wi-Fi ; Only two HDMIs ; Uninspiring standard definition

Yes, you can get better plasma TVs if you spend more money, but so what? The Samsung PS51E490 is specifically designed for people who can't afford to spend more money

If 3D is important to you, then you should definitely give this TV a try, but there are better 2D-only units out there

Fair detail and colour in HD ; Huge screen ; 3D with bundled glasses

Some picture noise ; Black depth and detail could be better

Samsung PS51E490 review: verdict It might sound like we’ve been fairly hard on the Samsung – and in absolute terms, we have. But let’s not forget its price: we’ve found it for as little as £550 online.

Samsung PS51E490 3D Plasma TV Review

Two cheaper plasma offerings have arrived here at HDTVTest one after the other. Fresh from reviewing Panasonic's TX-P42UT50, we got stuck into putting the Samsung PS51E490 through our gruelling tests. This is a 51-inch plasma TV which is priced online...

Although its lower-than-usual resolution (and yes, we can say that now that nearly every HDTV on the market is 1920×1080!) doesn’t allow it to reproduce the same detail as a 1920×1080 panel, and although it lacks a 96hz output mode for judder-free...

Samsung PN51E490B4F

Budget HDTVs don't usually have great pictures, they don't often come in large sizes, and they very rarely have 3D. The Samsung PN51E490B4F surprises us with a solid picture, a 51-inch plasma screen, and active 3D with two pairs of glasses included. At...

Good 3D with two pairs of glasses included. Accurate colors

Only 720p. Mediocre black levels

The Samsung PN51E490B4F is an affordable 51-inch 3D plasma HDTV with solid performance; it's only 720p, but you can't beat it for the price.

Samsung E450 series plasma TV rocks for its price

Sure, the Samsung E450 series may not be the perfect plasma TV, but no other TV at its price performs as well.

The inexpensive ; plasma TV is a well-rounded performer with deep black levels for the money and decent shadow detail. Color saturation is one of the TV's high points. The E450 uses less power than most plasmas its size.

The image washes out quite a bit in normal room lighting. The picture processing suffers from poor compatibility with 24p and 1080i material, and this could be symptomatic of the TV's low 720p resolution. Color accuracy is fairly poor.

The Samsung E450 series plasma may not be perfect, but you won't find another TV that performs this well for this low a price.

Samsung PME450 review

When you think of a Samsung TV, you first think of an LED TV, right? The Korean company invented the somewhat misleading term , and has built its reputation on LED televisions over the last few years. But what may come as surprise is that the company's...

Samsung PN51E450 Review – 51-inch Plasma HDTV

It is one of the inexpensive TV set launched by Samsung. Along with 3D compatibility and 1080p HD resolution, the model also lacks any wired or wireless networking option to access internet. But the slim bezel design and low price-tag of the device...

Samsung PN43E450 Review – 43-inch Plasma HDTV
