QLED is more than just a bloody-minded alternative to OLED - it's a very viable technology as evidenced by the Samsung QE55Q80R
Bright, high-contrast images ; Good off-axis performance ; Quite full-bodied sound ; Fine OS
No Dolby Vision ; Relatively deep chassis ; Some mild motion-handling traumas

Samsung has left nothing to chance for its 2019 QLED range. It's placed models at every strategic price point, to ensure buyers consider at least one of its offerings, no matter what their budget.

“Every new QLED TV just enhances the technology's credibility”
Bright, colourful, convincing images ; Fine operating system ; Good off-axis performance ; Sturdy sound
No One Connect box ; No Dolby Vision ; Motion-handling isn’t flawless
Samsung’s QLED technology is maturing nicely even as it gets more affordable – which can only be a good thing

Samsung's Q80R is a bargain in the land of top-tier TVs. It has a great picture, but saves you money by omitting unnecessary (albeit nifty) top-of-the-line design flourishes.
Excellent brightness, contrast, and HDR ; Svelte remote and easy-to-use onscreen interface ; Alexa, Google Assistant, and Bixby support; Apple TV ready
Slightly less contrast than the pricier Samsung Q90R ; Lacks the Q90R's One Connect box and pedestal stand
The Q80R is a most excellent TV, if I may go Keanu on you for a moment. It’s a toss-up with the Q90R image-wise with ever so slightly less contrast, but less defect-prone black.

Performance Features Ergonomics Value
It wasn't long ago that a buying a premium UHDTV demanded your first-born in exchange, or at least a sizeable portion of his or her college tuition. At $2,800 (and widely available for less), Samsung's new QN65Q80R "QLED" TV isn't exactly the...

Bought this a birthday treat for my self. Mainly for use with the xbox 1x and very happy that I did. HDR in Red Dead Redemption looks amazing compared to my old HDR TV a 2017 Samsung. Sometimes it's the sky is so bright it hurts my eyes. When watching...
