If money's no object and you simply have to have the best 50in TV in town, then check out this impressive plasma screen.
There's no getting round the fact that the PDP-LX508D is seriously expensive by today's 50in TV standards. The single biggest issue I have with the screen is the fact that, awesome though it is, I'm not sure many people will easily be able to justify...

Finally Pioneer's big-screen Full HD Kuro is here
HD picture quality ; Excellent connectivity ; Outstanding 1080/24p compatibility
Picture not the brightest ; Price may put some buyers off
It doesn't come cheap, but the LX608D is so good in so many ways that we have no choice but to give it a whole-hearted five stars

Pioneer PDP-LX508D Kuro is an 8th generation plasma screen made by Pioneer. Kuro means 'black' in Japanese. It has screen at 1270 mm with a digital tuner, and uses the Nicam sound system. Contrast ratio is at 20,000:1. Added features are DNR, Pure...
The combined technological prowess of the globe couldn’t make a better television than this. Buy it, polish it and pamper it, but desecrate it with an episode of Holby City and we’ll be around with baseball bats. Pioneer PDP-LX508D Kuro is tagged with...

If you've been following the reviews published on this website, you should realise by now how highly I regard Pioneer Kuro plasma televisions based on both objective measurements and subjective viewing (post-calibration of course). In fact, the only...
Almost all elements of picture quality including blacks, contrast ratio ; colour, video processing, motion handling, etc
Plasma buzzing (may be specific to our sample) ; Price
Put simply, no other flat screen television – plasma or LCD – I have seen in 2007 delivered as good a picture quality as Pioneer PDP-LX508D.

Nighttime scenes are rendered in pitch-blackness - an almost perfect black., Incredible color neutrality without a lot of tweaking., Judder-free and full resolution HDTV playback
Somewhat feeble presentation of bright scenes: limited brightness in daylight viewing., If the content cannot be displayed in widescreen, gray bars to the left and right of the picture distract from the main picture
