42PFL7403D/F7

There's a lot to like about the Philips 42PFL7403D/F7. For a street price of $1100 (as of March 10, 2009), you get a 42-inch HDTV with USB-based multimedia capabilities. The only lower-priced 42-inch HDTV we've looked at recently, the Honeywell Altura...

Very good sound Multimedia playback via USB port

Disappointing picture quality Clumsy switching between inputs

Though the remote lacks backlighting and programming capabilities, it's quite good--small, light, and comfortable to hold. The buttons are well laid out, too. The remote includes picture-in-picture buttons, but the TV lacks picture-in-picture

Philips 42PFL7403D/F7 HDTV Review

Very good sound ; Multimedia playback via USB port

Disappointing picture quality ; Clumsy switching between inputs

The Philips 42PFL7403D/F7 has some nice touches for a low-cost HDTV, but it suffers in a crucial area: image quality.

Philips 42PFL7403D

The Philips 42PFL7403D is a solid 1080p television, which shows particular strengths with HD content, but you'll need to tweak it to get the best results.

Great styling ; 100Hz actually works ; Deep black levels ; Four HDMI ports ; Great HD images

Picture presets are awful ; Noise reduction ineffective ; Poor off-axis viewing

Conclusion Given that the two TVs look alike it's natural to compare the 7000 and the 9000 series directly to each other. Both are very capable TVs, but given the relatively small price difference, we think that 9000 is actually better value with its...

Philips 47PFL7403D/F7 Review – 47-inch LCD HDTV

47PFL7403D/F7 is a fantastic model of the Philips 7000 LCD HDTV series. In terms of design, features and performance it looks like a clone of the 7403D/27 model in the line-up. You would not feel any difference between them at the first look. However,...

Philips 42PFL7403D

For the most part, this is a fantastic TV; however, there is some noticeable ghosting from the bottom left of the screen. Bought it for SGD 1,800.

Vibrant colours

Some ghosting, sound quality

Philips 42PFL7403D

I've just bought this TV and some things I'm very satisfied with - like black-tones and color, but some things are not very good. I find it hard to get a very good picture without "pixel-noise", and specialy when watching talkshows and such. And if I...

True-like picture ; Good blacks and color ; Cool design

Pixel-noise ; Poor sound ; All the settings that I use hours to set up is reset every time I kill the power to the set - frustrating

Philips 42PFL7403D

I just bought this Philip from HN after wandering around HN, Domayne, JB , Myer , .... internet shop... and auction sites ...

excellent picture quality ; cheap - about AU $1950 with Monster Power Board , anten cable , cleaning kit ; 3 yrs warranty ; simple & quick menu ; slim design ( 42inch but the unit length only 1046 mm)

No coax digital audio output (this has a Digital audio output but doesnt work with my current digital Boston speaker)

Philips 42PFL7403D

I shopped every major electronics retailer around and looked at hundreds of TV's. The only ones I found with a clarity of picture equal to this were a couple of offerings from Sony -- at *much* higher prices. If you want a top-notch picture, try to...

Almost unbelievable picture quality -- contrast, clarity and color depth lend an almost-3-dimensional quality to HD content

No analog audio RCA output jacks (only a digital one and an analog headphone jack) for older home theater amps ; No closed-captions (CC) button on remote; must navigate menus to turn CC on and off
