Philips 50PFT6550

The Philips 50PFT6550 is a 50-inch TV with – shock horror – a Full HD rather than native 4K screen resolution. Despite its relatively old-school pixel count, it's far from a basic TV.

Mostly excellent, dynamic picture quality ; Attractive and space-saving design ; Android runs more stably than it does on Sony's TVs

Care needs to be taken with set up ; Colours prefer punch to accuracy ; Limited viewing angles

Philips 40PFT6510

The 40PFT6510 is something I'm starting to see less of these days: it's a Full HD – rather than 4K UHD – TV.

Outstanding HD picture quality ; Superb value for money ; Good connectivity

Minor motion issues ; Android interface not the most helpful

Philips 40PFT6550 review

A decent effort from Philips, no more, no less...

Ambilight ; Sharpness and detail

Needs deeper, cleaner blacks and more accurate colours ; Horrible menus

A decent TV from Philips, but hindered by a few key flaws

Philips 40PFT6510 review

While there's no doubt that we're hurtling towards a 4K/UHD TV future, we're not quite there yet. Much as we might love 4K, there are still a huge amount of living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens and studies across the UK where 4K is either not wanted, not...

Exceptionally sharp pictures for HD; superb contrast and colour; Ambilight is fun; decent value

Care needed with picture processing options; harshness at loud volumes; Android TV system is cumbersome

The 40PFT6510 doesn’t handle Mad Max...’s woofer-blowing soundtrack as effectively as it handles its explosive visuals. The climactic multi-car battle sounds bass-light, slightly harsh and occasionally a little distorted at ‘cinematic’ volumes....

Philips 50PFT6550 Full HD TV Review

The Philips 50PFT6550 offers Android TV and 3D at a decent price but is there still a market for a Full HD TV this big?

Great black levels ; Good backlight uniformity ; Android TV has potential ; Nice features

Poor out-of-the-box accuracy ; Lack of shadow detail ; Backdoor processing ; Faulty CMS

There are certainly aspects of the Philips 50PFT6550 that are worthy of recommendation, with the TV delivering an excellent native black level and surprisingly good contrast numbers for an LCD TV. The backlight was suitably even, the Android TV showed...

Philips 40PFT6510 40In FullHD FreeviewHD Ambilight Smart TV.

" Really happy with the TV - great picture quality, easy to use, plenty of smart features & apps. The Ambilight feature works well once you get used to it, helps draw you in to the action. Highly recommended. "

A great deal

" This is a brilliant TV for the price. I was disappointed to find the sound on one of the HDMI slots wasn't quite right but then I noticed another 3 slots on the side of the TV so was happy again. I would definitely recommend this SMART HD 3D TV. The...

" Had to return after 2 days due to not connecting to netflix. After much searching on the Internet I discovered that this is a glitch that is widely present in this brand. "

Great TV - after a week

I bought this product as I've always been happy with the Philips TVs I've owned in the past. Although it was straightforward to set up I did think the picture appeared very unrealistic and I kept having making adjustments to find a satisfactory...
