Panasonic TH-50PZ700 review

Panasonic makes Full HD plasma TV affordable

Good pictures ; Relatively affordable

Standard-def only good, not great

A superb Full HD plasma that easily has the measure of anything not made by Pioneer

Panasonic TH-50PZ700U 50-inch 1080p Plasma TV

1080p plasma TVs have long been the fantasy of video enthusiasts. So naturally, many of us drooled with excitement when the first affordable 1080p plasma TV sets were announced earlier this year from Panasonic and Pioneer. Perhaps the drooling was the...

Panasonic TH-50PZ700

The technical difficulties of squeezing 1920 x 1080 plasma cells into a screen smaller than 65in have meant that before now we've only seen one Full HD 50in plasma TV: Pioneer's PDP-5000EX waltzing in at a cool £6,000

Good pictures, Relatively affordable

Standard-def only good, not great

A superb Full HD plasma that easily has the measure of anything not made by Pioneer

Panasonic VIERA TH-50PZ700A

The Panasonic VIERA TH-50PZ700A is a 50in 1080p plasma television with a native resolution of 1920x1080. It can accept signals from 480p through to 1...

Flawless image quality in all HD modes, high quality images in SD, good feature set, abundance of connection options

Some discolouration in SD tests, Nno support for 1920x1080 PC connections, pixelation in PC mode

The Panasonic VIERA TH-50PZ700A performed brilliantly with HD content and very well with SD and PC content. While the latter wasn't perfect, they were still usable, just not perfect. Anyone purchasing this unit will not be disappointed.

Panasonic TH-50PZ700A

Effective processing of SD sources. Bright, lifelike images. Full 1080p resolution.

1080p processing only applies to 480/576. Unable to turn off said processing. Poor DVD replay. Lack of features such as 24p and 100Hz.

Despite a recent price drop, the Panasonic TH-50PZ700A still struggles in the face of its main competitor, the Pioneer Kuro.

Panasonic TH-42PZ700U and TH-50PZ700U Plasma HDTVs

I wish I could say I had some clever reason for reviewing two nearly identical plasmas. Perhaps there was, but it's lost to me now. A few months ago, Panasonic asked me if I wanted to review the TH-50PZ700U, so I said sure. Then, a month or so later,...

Panasonic TH-50PZ700U 50" Plasma HDTV

The TH-50PZ700U is the new 50" entry into Panasonic's expanded Z700 Viera series of 1080p plasma HDTVs. With the addition of the 42" TH-42PZ700, this Full HD line now goes from 42 to 50 to 58 (TH-58PZ700).

Panasonic TH-50PZ700U Plasma TV Review

Suddenly there have been so many changes to our television system and it's left many people confused. Once upon a time life was simple and so many of us who now have gray hair (bald in some cases) lived with a square type TV with only and antennae or...

The TV is a good choice for watching every day HD and non HD programming. Even if you use it every day all day long, this monitor could go for 20 years.

Panasonic TH-50 PZ 700 E

Lovely, realistic colors and a natural, contrast-rich image., It has everything you might need, including an SD card reader., Pixel-perfect full HD resolution

The picture is not very bright., Although 24p format is supported, it judders perhaps just a little too much
