LG 55LW650T

The first of LG's new passive 3D TVs is here. But will it have the active 3D fraternity quaking in their boots?

Extremely affordable for such a large 3D screen, A relaxing 3D experience, Impressive multimedia functionality

3D not as crisp as active screens, Extremely patchy backlight, Very limited 3D viewing angle

LG 47LW650T

LG's LW650T series is no longer the brand's flagship 3D TV range, but the 47in 47LW650T still has plenty going for it - on paper at least...

Pretty design ; 3D images suffer minimal crosstalk and no flicker ; 2D HD images sometimes look good too

Heavy backlight inconsistency ; Traces of the 3D filter visible in 3D and 2D mode ; High levels of input lag

Some of the newest additions may not be familiar to everyone, so briefly: PlayJam offers a selection of simple games (though during our tests we couldn’t access the service due to a ‘network error’); Red Bull TV is a channel providing access to news...

The LG 55LW650T Cinema 3D TV is a Smart LED set with a social edge

Affordable ; flicker-free 3D ; Bustling online content portal ; Solid HD image quality

Limited contrast ; Picture-knackering eco modes ; Tricky Media Link setup

LG 55LW650T review

Well-priced with good picture quality and a taste of 3D

Fine value ; off-air performance ; no crosstalk with 3D ; seven 3D glasses included

Instability with motion ; not the last word in detail and clarity ; remote control

A well-priced set with good picture quality; caters well for those after a taste of 3D

LG 42LW650T review

The LG 42LW650T has killer looks, price and performance

Nice looks, ample spec ; bright, subtle images from sources ; includes seven 3D glasses

TV pictures could be even more detailed in both 2D and 3D

LG 42LW650T review

LG's 42 LW650T looks much like any other extremely thin LED TV. It's glossy black with a translucent plastic frame which may or may not be in fashion this week. But there's one aspect of this set that's unlike any other we've tested to date: it...

Low cost 3D glasses ; Smart TV Hub ; Slim design

Jaggy 3D picture ; Limited motion resolution ; Eco setting

LG 47LW650T review

A great way to get into 3D TV, this set's passive 3D tech gives a relaxed viewing experience, and you get lots of 3D specs

Great spec, including lots of specs ; fine pictures from any source ; stress-free 3D

Smart TV ergonomics should be better ; motion-processing options require careful attention

A good start for LG’s ‘Cinema 3D’ range

LG 55LW650T review

A new 55-inch LG passive 3D TV let down only by an inconsistent backlight

Good online features ; Flicker-free, bright 3D images ; Good set-up flexibility ; Often impressive 2D pictures

Passive 3D pictures not as or sharp as active shutter ; Some line structure issues ; High input lag damages gaming ; Serious backlight consistency problems

This 3D format war is well and truly on, with extravagant claims, outraged counterclaims, legal threats and even a bit of swearing. Somewhere in the middle of all the posturing, the 3D TVs at the heart of this impassioned conflict are starting to arrive.

LG 47LW650T Cinema 3D LED TV Review

The LG 47LW6500 is the first 'Cinema 3D' panel we've had the chance to take a look at — LG is the one of the few manufacturers opting for passive rather than active 3D in its LED TVs. The technology promises to get rid of headaches while offering a...

The LG 47LW6500 has a high quality panel that's able to display good quality video in 2D mode with plenty of visible detail. LG's stand-out approach to 3D, in its passive Cinema 3D panels, is smoother and less troublesome than 'active' 3D, despite a...

LG 42 LW650T 42in passive 3D TV

Review When LG threw its weight behind passive 3D at this year's CES, shockwaves rippled around the TV market. The brand used the show to rail against the dangers of Active Shutter 3D technology, enraging its rivals who cried foul.

Backlit LED TV with passive 3D viewing.
