Toshiba Encore 8 32GB

The Encore 8 features microSD storage and something few tablets -- including the Venue 8 Pro -- have: Micro-HDMI. As a full Windows 8.1 system, the Encore 8 runs all Windows legacy programs. That is, as long as you can find space. The tablet comes in...

The Toshiba Encore 8 runs Windows 8.1, boasts zippy performance, and has a microSD storage expansion slot.

The design is bulkier and heavier than most other small tablets. With no keyboard accessory, desktop mode is a headache to navigate.

The Toshiba Encore 8 offers a lot for its price, but the more appealing Dell Venue 8 Pro is a cheaper and sleeker alternative.

Toshiba Encore 8 review

If not for its annoyingly bulky design and slightly expensive price, the Toshiba Encore 8 would be your best option for a small Windows 8.1 tablet. As it stands, the Dell Venue 8 Pro is lower priced, thinner, and lighter.

The basic tablet is fine, weight, screen etc ok

Windows. Really - I had to reinstall after about a week of light use. Frequent hangs. Classic mode sucks on something this small. Comparing it to an iPad, i was attracted by the ability to use windows apps, but it is just frustrating to use.

Nice compact little tablet

Wife uses this in her home office, since her company doesn't allow additional software on their computers. It keeps her entertained with streamed music all day long. Works well with an additional 22 inch 1080 monitor, blue tooth keyboard, and bluetooth...

Sometimes has difficulty communicating with the home wi-fi, but I believe it is the fault of the home wi-fi. Would be much more difficult to use without the bluetooth devices, therefore loss of one star

Nice Product

I needed 80 tablets for work and was going to go with the Dell Venue. After ordering a few to test we found that the Dell did not have GPS, which was needed for the application. The Toshiba has everything the Dell has plus GPS and a lower price.

TOSHIBA WT8-A32

Some people have purchased this tablet have had problems charging. This is usually due to needing a higher amp charger than the norm (around 2 amps, most chargers for phones have only 0.7 amps). Just use the charger that comes with the unit.

A stable Windows 8 x86 tablet ; Micro USB charging port ; Fast boot times

The tablet could use a bit more memory, slows down a bit when under a heavy load ; The touch screen can sometimes be a bit unresponsive, especially when bringing up the on-screen keyboard ; The Micro USB port is very finnicky about what cables will work
