Sony Tablet P

Sony has created a radical dual screen, clamshell Android tablet. Can it possibly work?

Innovative Design ; Premium quality screens ; Standard 3G connectivity ; Some excellent custom apps

Heavier than expected ; Proprietary charging & power brick ; Wide bezels between the screens ; Aspect ratio poor for video ; Expensive

which are expected to take place throughout 2012.

Sony Tablet P

Intriguing design, reasonable picture and sound, fine as an eBook reader or mini-notebook

Compromised video, odd with some Android services, high price, meagre memory

Sony has dared to be different, but this time the gamble hasn’t paid off

Sony Tablet P review

A highly portable yet imperfect dual-screen Android tablet

Crisp, vibrant screens ; Light and compact ; Capable processor ; Plays PS1 games

Small viewing space for movies ; No physical buttons for games ; Ropey Wi-Fi

This time last year - when the Tablet P wasn't even a twinkle in Sony's eye - we were weeping into a mound of rubbish iPad rip-offs, begging for sweet release from our tiresome lives.

Sony Tablet P review

Sony's Android 3.2-based Tablet P took a while to get to Blighty's shores but, thanks to the clamshell dual-screen, it was worth waiting for

Unusual clam shell design ; Portability ; Bright dual-screens

Tight storage ; Over-priced ; Will lose out to the Vita

If your current tablet has been scratched to ruins, you should definitely consider the Tablet P. Its unique folding design makes it easy to carry and protects the dual screens, while the nVidia Tegra 2 processor keeps everything running smooth....

Sony Tablet P

Tablets, like smartphones, are ten a penny now. You can get a rubbish one for £80, or a really great one for £400. They usually all look pretty much the same, are mostly either about 10- or 7-inches in size and are mostly comprised of a screen. The...

Design is interesting and different, has 3G, great DLNA streaming, Sony apps leverage twin-screens brilliantly

Expensive, Wi-Fi seems troublesome, dual-screens don't work well on non-Sony applications, battery isn't great

We wanted to love the Sony Tablet P, and indeed, it's lovely to see a tablet that offers something that Apple does not. The problem is, without a lot of dedicated apps, the dual-screen approach just doesn't add enough.

While the Tablet S sports a "folded magazine" design, the clamshell design of the Tablet P is likely to be more controversial. The fact that the Tablet

Sony Tablet P review

The Sony Reader Store has yet to launch, but there's plenty of other digital content to get your teeth into with the Sony Tablet P. There's the Video Unlimited and Music Unlimited streaming and download services, plus the PlayStation Network gaming,...

The Sony Tablet P offers a mixed experience. The screen is beautiful, the build robust, the inclusion of 3G very welcome and performance above par. But we can't ignore the poor integration of the Sony Entertainment Network elements that people may...

Sony Tablet P preview

Android tablets are flying thick and fast as the platform continues to evolve, but most of them look similar. Sony has attempted to distinguish itself with the S2: a clamshell Android tablet with dual-screens.

The Sony S2 Android tablet is likely to hit shops towards the end of the year. Watch this space for a full review of the Sony S2.
