An 8-inch tablet version of the super-popular Samsung Galaxy Note 2 smartphone.
Stylus works well, Thin and light, Pretty powerful
Imperfect build and feel, Expensive, No camera flash

If you're a fan of the Note series, you won't be disappointed by the Note 8 features, S Pen, camera and more
So powerful ; S Pen enhancements worth having ; Camera image stabilisation tech ; We like app pairs!
It's expensive ; Fingerprint reader

Has Samsung gone mad with so many different sized tablets and phones?
Intuitive and fluid OS ; Good keyboard ; Great for watching media ; Lightning fast browser
No flash player ; Browser zoom and reflow needs work ; IR Blaster range poor
The Galaxy Note 8.0 is a device that does what it does well, but doesn't wow us in too many ways. It's a good device. But there are better out there for the money, and with an arguably better design as well.

The Note 8.0 might have been a great tablet once, but now it looks outclassed and outdated
8in screen ; S-Pen stylus ; Smooth navigation
Not a Full HD screen ; So-so video performance ; High price ; Old version of Android
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 showed promise when it was released, but its weaknesses are easily exposed by newer rivals – even more so when you consider its price is among the highest of tablets this size.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 inspires creativity but can it take on the iPad Mini
Multi-Window ; Speedy browsing ; S-Pen
Uninspiring design ; Samsung software ; Battery life

Although the Note range is newer than the Tab range, it's also more complete. After all, the Note is a phone, as well as a tablet, and there are now three sizes to choose from. It's also, we think, a more exciting range in terms of features and...
Stylish, a decent size, S Pen is still a great tool, brilliant for video
Quite expensive, screen resolution a disapointment,
The Note range remains a solid favourite of ours. The Note 10.1 and Note II are devices we adore. The Note 8 is a solid performer too, but we can't help think it's stuck in the middle of two giants. But it's a brilliant size for a tablet, it's less...

We took a look at the Wi-Fi only smartphone/tablet hybrid priced at a whopping £339 but there's also a version with a SIM-card slot offering not only data, but calls and texts.

The rear cover is fixed in place rather than removable, yet still feels disappointingly tacky and plasticky. It doesn't feel as solid as the front side, and we weren't keen on the bulge which accommodates the rear camera.
The Galaxy Note 8.0 is one of Samsung's better tablets but it's hampered by its extravagant price tag. Unless you really want the S Pen stylus there are better and cheaper 8in-screen tablet alternatives on the market.

Samsung's phone call-making 8in tablet – the Galaxy Note 8.0 – might look silly next to most Team Stuff faces, but press it to the ear of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, BFG or Jolly Green Giant and everything starts to make sense. We're being...
