Samsung Galaxy Book review

Samsung has addressed everything that was wrong with 2016's Tab Pro S and made a decent 2-in-1 laptop. But pitted against Microsoft and Huawei, does it make a case for itself?

Samsung has undoubtedly made a better product than last year’s Tab Pro S, but it’s still found wanting. The plastic build is unforgivable at this price point and while performance is decent, it’s not a product that is all that compelling to use.

Samsung Galaxy Book (12-inch) review

The Samsung Galaxy Book rightfully belongs on the quickly growing list of impressive Microsoft Surface Pro contenders.

The Samsung Galaxy Book has an excellent screen, strong performance and long battery life. For a 12-inch tablet, it's compact. A keyboard cover and stylus are both included.

It can get hot if multitasking for a long time. The keyboard case is wobbly if not sitting on a sturdy surface. The kickstand situation isn't as solid as the Surface's.

The Samsung Galaxy book beats the Surface on value by including a keyboard cover and stylus in the box, but the Surface's design is still much more refined.

Samsung Galaxy Book 12-inch review

  (Rating Hidden)

The Samsung Galaxy Book is a high end tablet that is looking to take on the Apple iPad Pro and Microsoft Surface Pro. Unlike those two, it has a secret weapon - the keyboard is included, in theory giving you everything you need for that tablet/laptop...

Samsung Galaxy Book 12in review

Samsung's best hybrid yet, but still lagging behind the best of the bunch

Superb screen; Keyboard and stylus included; Thin and light

Pricey for its performance and quality; Average battery life

Although it fixes most of the issues of its 10.6in sibling, the 12in Galaxy Book markets itself too closely against the Surface Pro, which only serves to highlight its limitations. While the best of Galaxy Book range by far, performance and build...

Samsung's new tablet looks like an iPad, acts like a Surface

Samsung's Galaxy Book challenges Microsoft for the two-in-one title, but it's off to a wobbly start.

Samsung Galaxy Book (12-Inch, LTE)

Samsung's Galaxy Book is a high-end 2-in-1 convertible with a gorgeous Super AMOLED screen and category-leading battery life. But it could use a bump up in memory and storage to merit its $1,300 price tag.

14 hours of battery life. Very thin and light. 2,160-by-1,440 Super AMOLED screen is sharp and brilliant. 4G LTE connectivity. Keyboard cover and S Pen are bundled.

4GB of RAM and 128GB SSD. Lacks a kickstand. USB Type A adapter is not included. Pen storage is flimsy. No Windows Hello or fingerprint security support.

The Samsung Galaxy Book has a top-notch screen and category-leading battery life, but several shortcomings hold it back when compared with other laptop-replacement tablets. There is no excuse for 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD when you're paying more than...

Samsung Galaxy Book review: one step forward, one step back

Samsung's Surface competitor still doesn't quite match up

Sharp, vibrant display ; Comfortable, backlit keyboard ; Snappy performance

Awkward to use on a lap ; Fans that never shut off ; Middling battery life

Samsung Galaxy Book 12 LTE Convertible Review

Surface competitor with AMOLED. Samsung is set for attack with its new Galaxy Book 12 and has managed to get itself a unique selling point in the market of professional Windows tablets with a keyboard cover: A Super-AMOLED screen. The pricey device...

S-Pen and keyboard included ; attractive and modest design ; seemingly perfect workmanship ; well-made, flexible keyboard case ; good cameras with 13 and 5 MP ; fast Wi-Fi and LTE ; TPM / BitLocker and W10 Pro ; good input devices ; bright AMOLED...

2x USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C + audio jack only ; suboptimal color accuracy ; color accuracy cannot be improved ; PWM at 250 Hz ; tablet can heat up quite a lot ; throttling under continuous load

Prospective buyers with enough petty cash can hardly go wrong with the Samsung Galaxy Book 12 LTE if they like the idea of a connecting keyboard and high portability. Apart from the meagre port selection, Samsung really has managed to combine the best...

Samsung Galaxy Book (12-inch) Review

The Samsung Galaxy Books has an interesting design and one of the best displays we've seen on a tablet. But the mediocre battery life, steep asking price, and lack of premium trappings prevent it from being a must-buy.

Gorgeous Super AMOLED display ; Strong performance ; Responsive keyboard ; Interesting convertible design
