Microsoft Surface Pro 7 Review: What's new this year?

The Surface Pro 7 is a new refresh on Microsoft's labtop-tablet hybrid, upgraded with a new USB-C port and Intel Ice Lake processor

Full-fat Windows 10 application library;Excellent connectivity;Solid build quality

Type Cover costs extra; Not a big step up on the Surface Pro 6

Microsoft Surface Pro 7 review

The Surface Pro 7 is the calm before a storm of innovation

Improved performance ; USB-C finally ; Now with Wi-Fi 6

Overall loss in battery life ; USB-C isn’t Thunderbolt 3 ; Few, if any, other design changes ; Screen bezels are thick for 2019

We expected a bit more in advancements from the seventh Surface Pro tablet. USB-C is nice, but for a device at this price, it should have Thunderbolt 3. Plus, the display bezels are awfully thick for a tablet in 2019. The Surface Pro 7 isn’t big enough...

Microsoft fails to shake things up with its new professional tablet

Powerful hardware ; USB-C support ; Improved pen sensitivity ; Display remains great

No significant design changes ; Average battery life ; Expensive peripherals

Hands on: Microsoft Surface Pro 7 review

The brand-new Surface Pro 7 from Microsoft is, astonishingly, no longer the company's flagship Surface product. That privilege now belongs to the newfangled, ARM-based Surface Pro X. Instead, what we have now is allegedly Microsoft's more affordable...

10nm Intel processing USB-C at long last

Few, if any, other improvements Major dip in battery life Type Cover and Surface Pen still sold separately

Frankly, the new Surface Pro 7 has us scratching our heads. For all intents and purposes, this is a spec update to the previous Surface Pro 6, but with performance enhanced in some ways and practically hamstrung in others.

Microsoft Surface Pro 7: Still the best, still no Thunderbolt

The Surface Pro 7 has a slew of new hardware under the hood, but it's only a soft redesign over the previous model, with USB-C also added.

Up-to-date Intel processors make for powerful and snappy performance ; Punchy screen colours and resolution ; USB-C is a welcome addition

Lack of real change over predecessor ; Big screen bezels ; No Thunderbolt ; So-so battery life (i7 tested) ; Expensive extras - when adding Type Cover and Pen

Still the best Windows 2-in-1 around, but it remains ahead due to the lack of highly recommendable alternatives. The performance upgrade here is excellent, but design-wise the huge bezels now look dated and Microsoft's dedication to Surface Connect is...

Microsoft Surface Pro 7

While it might look the same as the Pro 6, the Surface Pro 7 packs a punch.

Microsoft Surface Pro 7 review

An expensive hybrid that works just as well as a “real” computer

Bold, sharp screen ; Punchy 10th Gen Intel CPUs ; Type Cover remains surprisingly good

Battery life is not great ; Aspects of the design are ageing ; Accessories are a bit pricey

It is similar to the last Surface Pro, but this is still one of the few tablet hybrids we’d be happy to work all day on. Just remember to bring the charger, as the battery won’t last.

Microsoft Surface Pro 7 tablet review

  (Rating Hidden)

The Surface Pro 7 is Microsoft's latest high-end tablet-laptop hybrid. It's largely unchanged from last year's Surface Pro 6, with a new processor and a new USB-C port. Should you plump for this bang-up-to-date ...

Microsoft Surface Pro 7 review: This or a convertible notebook?

Is the Surface Pro 7 still the mightiest detachable notebook? Let's find out!

USB-C, finally ; Nice display ; Compact and super portable ; Good all-round performance ; Class-leading build quality ; Power efficient, decent battery life

Starting to look dated ; Only one USB-C and USB-A port ; No Thunderbolt 3 support ; Accessories are not included and pricey
