Think the Nexus 7 is too small, too plasticky? Try this
Decent screen quality ; Plenty of power available ; Metal back feels good
Basic camera ; Software needs some tweaking
Its sound experience is not great, though. The output is a little thin-sounding and at mid-to-high volumes, the back of the tablet vibrates. It feels a little odd.

The LG G Pad 8.3 tablet is solidly built and has neat features, but is it enough?
Decent ; different design ; Double-tap wakes the screen ; Memory card expandability
Unexceptional display ; No cellular version ; Average camera

LG's back in the tablet game and the G Pad 8.3 is a strong contender
Strong design ; Great full HD display ; Storage expansion
No 3G/4G option ; Poor camera ; Average battery life
With a metal body, full HD display and decent innards the G Pad 8.3 is strongest rival to the iPad mini 2. While battery life could be better LG's tablet doesn't let the side down.

LG admits that its first foray into tablet computing wasn't exactly a roaring success. Although there was nothing to hate about the LG Optimus Pad we could only find enough stuff to like to give it three stars. LG then seemingly gave up on tablets but...
Construction is great quality, lovely screen shows plenty of detail, superb battery life, speedy performance
Has to compete against the cheaper Nexus 7, camera quality, size won't suit all
The LG G Pad represents a strong return to the tablet market for LG. We hope the firm carries on making devices of this calibre - it feels premium thanks to top build quality and has enough strong features to make it well worthy of consideration - but...

LG let slip its G Pad 8.3 a while back, marking a return to larger Android devices. So getting our hands on the Android tablet has been a long time coming.

Here are three similarly sized and priced tablets, which are all very different. Choosing a tablet can be difficult so we've compared these three in detail to help you decide which the best one for you is.
Despite being the oldest tablet here, the Nexus 7 remains our top-pick. It's the best all-rounder but the other two contenders are still worth a shout. The G Pad feels the best and has some extra software features which are really handy. Lenovo's Yoga...

At 8.3in, the G Pad is one of only a few tablets to buck the 10in and 7in trends. Other devices in the niche category include the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, Lenovo Yoga Tablet 8 and iPad mini with its 7.9in screen. However, it's close enough to 7in to be...
The G Pad 8.3 is undoubtedly LG's best tablet to date and at £199 it's a bit of a steal. A nice selection of hardware and software make this a great choice for a small tablet. However, occasionally laggy performance means the Nexus 7 might be a better...

LG's latest stab at the tablet market is the G Pad 8.3 which you can buy for just £199.

LG hasn't had much luck in the tablet market. The company tried its hand briefly back when Google thought Honeycomb was a good idea, but...
Well priced
Heavy software "features"

LG brings a surprisingly lovely build and 1080p screen to the inbetweener 8in tablet scrap. The question – is £260 cheap enough?
Vibrant, eye-popping screen ; Sturdy build that’s easy on the eye, especially in white ; microSD up to 64GB so great for media hoarders
A little on the heavy side next to the Nexus ; We wish LG had dropped a £220 G Pad ; Android tablet apps can’t compete with the iPad
A classy design and stunner of a screen make the G Pad 8.3 easy to love – add microSD and the price doesn’t look so expensive
