Scratchy scratchy – it feels just like pen and paper
Sketching and writing on it feels like paper ; Thin, elegant design ; Ships with stylus and folio cover
No Google Play Store access ; Pricier (though more feature-rich) than Kindles ; Too big to replace a E Reader, too monochrome to repace a tablet

What happens when you cross a Kindle with a tablet? Huawei has the answer.
4 week battery life ; Installable apps ; Split-screen view for note-taking ; Soft leather-like finish
Low refresh screen will mean functionality is a little limited ; It’s not cheap
There’s no doubt the latest tablet from Huawei is a little niche, but we still think it’s a really interesting device. It strips away the distractions like games, media and such, and lets you get on with productivity.

The MatePad Paper proves that e-ink displays can be used for plenty more than just reading, but sub-par software means its potential remains unfulfilled.
Premium design ; Great cover and stylus experience ; Solid battery life ; Impressive speakers
Sluggish performance ; Limited selection of books ; Poor software ; Expensive
The MatePad Paper is a compelling vision of the future of e-ink devices, but this first iteration won’t convince many people to ditch their colour tablet or eReader.
