Dell Inspiron Duo review

Can't decide between a tablet or a new laptop? Dell is hoping so, having combined both to make the Inspiron Duo. As party tricks go, the Duo's rotating screen is up there with balancing a broom handle on your nose. With a bucket of custard on top....

Dell Inspiron Duo review

How sure are you that you need a touchscreen netbook? You probably don't really.

Solid build

Lack of ports, pointless gimmicky touchscreen, price

Dell Inspiron Duo review

When Dell first demoed the Inspiron Duo and its vertically rotating screen on stage at IDF in September, our mouths nearly hit the floor. It looked like

Innovative vertical rotating screen design ; Extremely sturdy build ; Great chiclet keyboard

Terrible viewing angles ; Less than 3.5 hours of battery life ; Software layer is incredibly sluggish

Dell Inspiron Duo (Black)

The flip screen implementation is an original and refreshing take on the convertible tablet, but the Dell Inspiron Duo underwhelms when it comes to features and tablet performance.

Clever and refreshing take on convertible tablet design. High resolution screen. Excellent keyboard and mouse button combination. Sturdy netbook. 2GB of DDR3 memory included. Fast-spinning hard drive

Bare-bones feature set. Battery is small and not user-removable. Poor battery life. Touch performance is sluggish. Components can't handle Windows 7 Home Premium. Cluttered with 3rd party and proprietary software.

Dell Inspiron Duo review: Dell Inspiron Duo

Dell is making a bold move on the emerging tablet market by getting the inventive new Inspiron Duo into consumers' hands just as the holiday shopping season kicks into high gear.

Inventive design; finger-friendly touch interface; reasonably priced.

Sluggish software; no SD card slot, Ethernet jack, or video output; unimpressive battery life.

With zippier hardware and a better battery, the flip-screen Dell Inspiron Duo could be a solid multimedia tablet/laptop combo.

Review Dell Inspiron duo Convertible Netbook/Tablet

Innovative. The well thought-out screen-flip design of the Inspiron duo 10" convertible notebook/tablet is an interesting innovation. But does this mean that has Dell crafted the finest convertible yet or just another high-tech toy?

Stylish Design and Nice Feel, Refined Screen-Flip Concept, Broadcom CrystalHD Decoder, Clearly Labeled Keyboard, Optional Accessories, Comfortable to Use

Few Accessories Included, Poor Display Quality, Glossy Screen, Short Battery Life, Limited Potential for Upgrades (7mm HDD), Few Ports, Slow Dell duo Stage UI (Tablet Interface), High Entry-Level Price

Imaginative Design, Good Performance

Average Battery Life, People might miss the Android OS

The Dell Inspiron Duo ID-4600FNTis a sure shot hit for the people who live for innovative technology. However, at the end of the day, apart from its imaginative design, it is only a regular tablet with the regular features-albeit a good performance.

Dell Inspiron Duo

Stylish and portable if a little on the heavy side. Bought for my son who seems more than happy with it. Touch screen responsive. easiest way to create a back up is with a usb stick (you'll need 8gb and remember part of the stick is already spoken for...

Not as quick as my full blown laptop but it's fair for what it is. Battery is inbuilt. Charger gets red hot for some reason. Awkward to hold when in tablet form. Optional stand is expensive. Shop round to get 50% off.
