Asus VivoTab Smart ME400 review

The Windows 8 tablet to beat?

Excellent general specs ; 8MP camera ; full Windows 8

Processor slow ; Ports problematic ; Could be brighter

Windows 8 tablets haven't exactly set the world alight so far. Indeed things have been positively low key. Firstly there was uncertainty – many Microsoft partners had prepped their own devices when suddenly, last summer, Microsoft said it would be...

Asus VivoTab Smart

The Asus VivoTab Smart is certainly an interesting idea. Boiled down to basics, it's a Windows 8 tablet compressed into the sort of design you'd expect for a Windows RT tablet. That means it's small and light, and will be the ideal device for you to...

Full Windows experience, compact and light, well-built, upgradable storage via microSD

Can be sluggish, not enough RAM, Windows 8 is confusing here and RT would have been simpler

There's so much to consider here that it's almost enough to make your head melt.

Asus adds VivoTab Smart tablet to Windows 8 lineup

The 10-inch tablet isn't the flashiest Asus Windows 8 tablet but only time will tell if it's the smartest.

Asus VivoTab Smart ME400 review

The Asus VivoTab Smart ME400 targets the same price bracket as Microsoft's £399 Surface RT tablet.

Value for money, Windows 8, decent camera, good battery life

Screen could be better, dull design, can run slowly

A decent Windows 8 tablet that, despite a lack of processing prowess, still offers a good proposition for business buyers

Asus VivoTab Smart review

The latest entry from Asus into the Windows tablet mêlée is agood-looking, slimline machine that offers the full versionof Windows 8, making it more versatile than most of thecompetition, but what has it sacrificed?

Wired: Slim design, full Windows 8, 8 megapixel camera and 2megapixel camera

Tired: Screen not full HD, processor a bit underpowered

Good to see the full version of Windows 8 on a standardtablet, and the better-than-average camera will probably appeal tosome. But while it comes in at a reasonable price, the Microsoft Surface RT offers a better screen, more powerfulprocessor and its...

Asus VivoTab Smart

The Asus VivoTab Smart looks like any one of a number of iPad knockoffs: with a thin black plastic frame and a 10.1-inch screen, at a glance it could be just another forgettable Samsung Android tablet. But this is a different beast entirely: it runs...

The Asus VivoTab Smart is absolutely not for everyone. If it’s a bargain you want, get a £159 Google Nexus 7. If it’s smarts and sexy looks, you can nab an iPad mini for just £269. But there’s still an audience out there, who ever since day one have...

Asus VivoTab Smart review: First look

A 10in tablet which features an Intel Atom 1.8GHz dual-core processor and the full Windows 8 OS for £399.

With a price of £400 for a full Windows 8 machine - this could be a useful alternative to the iPad for business users. However, it remains to be seen what sort of battery life the Vivo Tab Smart has to offer, and how it will function without docking...

Asus VivoTab Smart Windows 8 Tablet Review

Greg Hook gets a first look at a full-on Windows 8 tablet

Full Windows 8 operating system ; 8MP rear camera ; Light and comfortable to use ; Cheap for a Windows 8 tablet

Low quality internal speakers ; Low resolution screen ; Frustrating to use without a bluetooth keyboard ; No USB connection out of the box ; Build quality could be better

Asus VivoTab Smart Review

You'll be able to do more with this than with an iPad – even taking the scarcity of Windows 8-specific apps into account – but you won't be able to do it more speedily and without some frustrations with the interface.

Compared to the competition, the Asus VivoTab Smart, at $500, is on the inexpensive side for Windows 8 tablets. That’s a very un-netbook-like price, though. And if you’re going to use the tablet for real work, you’ll need to shell out another $100 for...

Asus blue my mind with this stylish router

The Asus Blue Cave smart router is the whole package with style, speed, security and all the customization options you could want, including Amazon Alexa support.

Asus' Blue Cave offers top speeds at an affordable price. The menu gives you access to almost every setting imaginable. Free security from Trend Micro provides added peace of mind. Alexa and IFTTT are supported.

Network storage transfer speeds were slow. Constantly explaining to friends that it’s actually a router might be annoying.

It's a cool looking router with a big, blue-rimmed hole in the middle. It has lots of speed, features and security for an affordable price. The menu and app give you as much control over your network as you want.
