Archos 101 Internet Tablet

The Archos 101 Internet Tablet is a 10.1in tablet with a video-centric 16:9 widescreen display.

Large screen ; Can access Android Market ; Slim

Unresponsive touchscreen ; Patchy performance ; Utilitarian design

It's a strange combination, the rather practical approach married with the non-straightforward shape. An acquired taste, it demands some nerve if you're going to take it on a morning commute stuffed full of iPad users, sure to throw the occasional...

Archos 101 Platinum review

Archos's latest full-sized tablet is cheap in every sense of the word

Affordable price tag ; Quad-core performance ; Stock Android ; MicroSD slot

Poor build quality ; Low-res display ; Terrible camera ; Poor controls/ports position

If you really want a full-sized tablet for less than the price of an iPad, consider splashing out a little extra on the Google Nexus 10 as you'll struggle to find value for money here.

Archos 101 Internet Tablet

Apple has done an excellent job of carving an “elitist” niche for itself in the portable audio and video player market, something that has been reaffirmed most recently with the success of the iPad. Since its products frequently come under criticism...

Wide range of connectivity and generic support, slim and light, reasonably priced, flexible Android 2.2 OS, kick stand

Display viewing angle is quite poor, some users will be limited to Archos’ own application library, bad camera

Archos has a reasonably priced, well performing and versatile internet tablet on offer with the 101, which despite its faults is ultimately a far more flexible device than the iPad. Apple fans will no doubt exacerbate its weaknesses, and they will have...

First Look: Archos 101 Internet Tablet

This year's IFA tech show in Berlin was home to more tablets than your local chemist and, not to be outdone by the likes of Samsung and Toshiba, Archos stepped into the fray with the launch of five - yes, five - new Android-powered models. Due out by...

Affordable price, video calling, lightweight, Flash support

Archos 101 Internet Tablet review

The Archos 101 Internet Tablet is a curious Google Android 2.2 tablet. It's not so much a widescreen tablet as two squares stuck together.

This is far from an impressive tablet and came as something of a disappointment given Archos' strong legacy in portable entertainment products. The price is a palatable £229, but we think most people will find the BeBook or Creative Ziio better...

Archos 101 review

The Archos 101 is the 10-inch tablet Android needed in 2010. Thin, light, and affordably priced at $299 (8GB) and $399 (16GB), the Archos 101 is the first decent presentation of Android 2.2 we've seen on an iPad-size screen.

The Archos 101 is one of few Android 2.2 tablets with a large 10.1-inch screen. Extras such as a front-facing camera, Mini-HDMI output, USB host and sync ports, and microSD memory expansion are impressive considering the tablet's low price.

Charging requires wall adapter, screen quality and responsiveness are mediocre; onscreen keyboard is awkward; not fully compatible with Adobe Flash; lacks support for Android Market and Google Mobile apps, such as Maps, Navigation, Contacts, and Calendar.

The Archos 101 tablet's price is right and the screen is ample, but the experience is outdated and performance is sluggish.
