9.7-inch iPad Pro

The first thing to note about the 9.7-inch iPad is that it isn't a replacement for your laptop – no matter how much Apple wants you to believe it is. However, there's no doubt this is the finest tablet Apple has ever made.

iPad Pro 9.7 (2016) review

Does Apple's new, normal-sized tablet have enough grunt to replace your laptop now that it's gone Pro?

Easy to handle True Tone display is gorgeous 256GB configuration

iOS shows its limitations Expensive starting price Optional keyboard isn't backlit

Apple is slowly transforming its iPad into a 2-in-1, and while this tablet may not be a laptop replacement, it's more than simply an iPad Air 3. It's best used with pro-level accessories like the Smart Keyboard and Pencil, but it gets even more expensive.

Hands on: iPad Pro 9.7 review: simply a great tablet

Apple's super-tablet has been shrunk

Super display ; Very powerful ; Superb on-the-move device

iPad Air 2 better for many ; Pencil extra ; Won't replace your laptop

Apple iPad Pro (9.7in) review

A potent combination of power, flexibility and impressive all-round performance...

Impressive sound from internal speakers ; Colourful and detailed picture ; Beautiful design ; Good camera

Sound through the headphone jack lacks sparkle

Apple owns the premium tablet market and the Pro 9.7 only cements its position with a great all-round performance

Apple iPad Pro 9.7 review: The tablet to beat all tablets

When Apple launched the iPad Pro back in September 2015 , many liked the idea of the beefed-up iPad, but many also wished its large 12.9-inch scale was squeezed down into the 9.7-inch chassis of the iPad Air 2. Those wishes have now come true. In the...

Size, power, capabilities

Tighter typing experience

In the iPad Pro 9.7 Apple has created a tablet powerful enough to act as a laptop replacement. But it's done so in a way that still feels very "iPad".

Apple iPad Pro 9.7 review

Apple thinks it's created the 'ultimate PC replacement' and while we're not convinced, the new iPad Pro 9.7 is still one of the best tablets you can buy.

There’s no doubt that the iPad Pro 9.7 is the best tablet Apple has ever made, combining the power of the original into the stunning form factor of the iPad Air 2 (with a camera bump). Apple has also added new features such as upgraded cameras and one...

Apple iPad Pro 9.7 Review: In Depth

iPad Pro 9.7 Review: The new iPad Pro tablet from Apple packs incredible power in a much more impressive portable form, along with Apple Pencil support.

Super portable ; Crazy power ; Great accessories ; Sharp, gorgeous screen ; Strong battery life

True Tone is a bit pants ; Expensive accessories

The iPad Pro 9.7 isn’t just a slightly smaller version of the original Pro tablet. It’s a more portable tab that boasts the same great performance in a much more comfortable-to-use form, at a much lower price.

Apple iPad Pro 9.7 review

Is this the ultimate iPad? Spoiler: yes

Exceptionally powerful ; Timeless, near flawless design ; True Tone makes for a very natural display ; A great tool for arty types

True Tone really needs to be turned off for videos, photos etc ; Far from cheap

It isn't cheap, but the 9.7in iPad Pro is perhaps the perfect tablet

iPad Pro 9.7-inch review

Editors' note, June 8, 2017: At its Worldwide Developer's Conference , Apple unveiled a new iPad Pro that replaces the 9.7-inch iPad Pro introduced in 2016 (reviewed below). Starting at $649, the new model packs a a bigger screen -- a 10.5-inch Retina...

The new iPad Pro delivers a fast processor; a bright, antireflective display; support for Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard accessories; better, louder speakers and top-notch cameras, in the same exact body as the iPad Air 2.

A higher price, plus expensive accessories. Less RAM and a slightly slower processor than the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. iOS still limits overall flexibility of this iPad.

It's still not a full-fledged laptop killer, but the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro is the best iPad ever made -- a near-perfect balance of tablet power and portability.
