Acer Iconia Tab W500

Can the Acer Iconia Tab W500 prove there's a place even for Windows 7 in the burgeoning tablet market?

Good display ; Responsive capacitive touchscreen ; Decent graphics chip performance

Bulky and heavy ; Ropey keyboard peripheral design ; Windows 7 doesn't like touchscreens

Acer Iconia Tab W500 review

Can a Windows 7 tablet with keyboard replace the netbook?

Excellent compatibility ; Great screen ; Versatile performance

Windows 7 isn't for tablets ; Poor screen rotation redraw ; Insubstantial keyboard dock ; It's pricey

Tablet or notebook? It's a question not only for the new Acer Iconia Tab W500, but for anyone looking to buy a new portable PC at the moment.

Acer Iconia Tab W500

How do you make a Windows tablet usable? You include a keyboard. That's not actually a fair description of the Acer Iconia Tab W500 (which is nowhere near as ungainly as its name), but the Tab doesn't manage to solve all the issues with using Windows...

Bright, beautiful colourful screen with excellent touch resolution and excellent sound make this a great little media tablet, and the C-50 processor is a step above an Atom

The price and the battery life are only good for a Windows tablet - not compared to iPad or Android, the keyboard dock is an excellent idea poorly executed

The Iconia Tab W500 wants to be the best of both worlds; in the end it's one of the nicest Windows tablets we've seen so far (barring the small size of the on-screen keyboard) and that's both praise and complaint. Windows 7 does do touch pretty well,...

Acer favours the Iconia Tab W500, we go hands-on - Pocket-lint

Acer Iconia Tab W500 review

Acer submitted two tablets for our perusal. The Iconia Tab A500 is a fairly standard Android Honeycomb tablet with a better than average screen, while this Acer Iconia Tab W500 model sports the same chassis but runs Windows 7. There aren't many Windows...

With a large proportion of corporate customers, we can see why Acer decided to take a punt on a Windows-based tablet. Unfortunately, a desktop OS just doesn’t cut the mustard here, and bolting on a keyboard only makes matters worse. Look to an Android...

Acer Iconia Tab W500 review

Hybrid designs are not new in the world of tablets, but they aren't exactly common either. The Acer Iconia Tab W500 tablet is a slate-style machine--all of its guts are behind the screen, and it can stand on its own as a tablet--but it also comes with...

The Acer Iconia Tab W500 is great for someone who wants the familiarity of Windows, or who wants to do Windows-based work occasionally. It excels at audio and video playback, but you'll need an SD Card to store that media on because it has limited...

Acer Iconia Tab W500 review

The Acer Iconia Tab W500 is a Windows 7 hybrid tablet/laptop aimed at business professionals on the move.

Bright screen, good for web browsing, full HDMI output

Top heavy design, fiddly keyboard and trackpad, disappointing battery life, over-priced, can't compete with the cheaper Asus Eee Pad Transformer

An average attempt at a hybrid device, the Acer W500 fails to set the world alight and is not an adequate replacement for a netbook.

Acer Iconia Tab W500

Review Aimed squarely at those of us who simply don't see the point of Android or iOS, Acer's Iconia Tab W500 is a Windows 7 Home Premium slate complete with decent graphics, a handy detachable keyboard, a sizeable chunk of storage and a realistic, if...

There’s nothing exactly revolutionary about the W500, but it does more than your average Windows netboook and can do it in tablet form. Sure it’s a little on the chunky side and Windows 7 isn’t as finger friendly as iOS or Android, but with the dock or...

Acer - ICONIA Tab W500

The Acer ICONIA Tab W500 is such a clever idea. You take a tablet, then provide it with an optional keyboard that effectively turns it into a notebook computer. Put Windows 7 on it so that ...

The Acer ICONIA Tab is a good idea. But with a price way that's way more than you'd expect to pay for a netbook with similar specifications, it's simply over-priced and under-featured. BEST POINT: Separate screen and keyboard WORST POINT: Topples over...

Acer Iconia Tab W500 review

Windows 7 may be great on a desktop or laptop, but it can be infuriating on a tablet as Alan Lu finds out with the new Acer Iconia Tab W500.

The Acer Iconia Tab W500 is the worst tablet we've seen so far. It's heavy, battery life is short, the touchscreen interface is incredibly frustrating and the optional keyboard dock isn't very comfortable to use. To add insult to injury the W500 is...
