Jabra Solemate Max review

The Solemate Max – as the name suggests – is a giant version of its smaller brother, and has very similar features.

Even if the sound quality was up to scratch, £299 is a steep price to pay for a portable Bluetooth speaker. The fact that is isn’t means you’re highly likely to be disappointed by the Solemate Max.

Jabra Solemate Max review

Back in 2012, Jabra released the Solemate , a compact Bluetooth speaker with a distinct, footwear-inspired design and decent sound for its size.

The Jabra Solemate Max delivers good sound and battery life and has a strong feature set and excellent design. It's also water-resistant, has built-in speakerphone capabilities, and is well suited for outdoor use with a convenient carrying handle...

We expect a little better sound from $400 speaker; separate AC adapter required for charging (no charging via Micro-USB).

The Jabra Soulmate Max is a likeable wireless speaker with some strong selling points, but it simply doesn't justify its current $400 price tag.

REVIEW: Jabra Solemate Max

Bluetooth speakers are becoming increasingly popular with the mobile generation and there's a whole range of devices ranging from £50 to over £500. The Jabra Solemate Max (£275) sits in the middle, so you can expect a certain level of audio performance...

Distinctive two-tone design ; Rugged/robust build ; Wireless & USB connectivity ; Excellent battery life ; Good sound quality

No choice of colours ; No Windows Phone app ; Unnecessary Dolby processing ; Sound wavers when loud ; No carrying case

The Solemate Max is a unique and well-specced Bluetooth speaker. It’s not good enough to recommend as a primary speaker for audiophiles, but it’s a lot of fun when moved around the house or taken to the park. The speaker’s performance wavers a bit at...

Jabra Bulks Up the Bluetooth Speaker [REVIEW]

The Jabra Solemate Max sounds much more robust than most other Bluetooth speakers, but it's kinda heavy to lug around and could use a little more oomph.

Room-filling, clear sound ; Rugged design ; Convenient USB input

Could use more bass ; Heavy

The Jabra Solemate Max sounds much more robust than most other portable Bluetooth speakers, but it’s kinda heavy to lug around and could use a little more oomph.

Jabra Solemate Max Review: Sound Of The Summer?

Jabra thinks these are the speakers you'll want to be taking with you, whatever you might be up to this summer. We've been playing around with a set of wireless speakers for the past couple of weeks and we are pretty impressed with what they can do....

Good sound quality, high quality design, durable quality, great battery life

Expensive, really heavy to be called portable, temperamental Bluetooth connection

Jabra’s latest portable speakers don’t come particularly cheap but with a highly durable and good looking build they’ll survive even some of the roughest parties. Sound quality is also fantastic whilst the battery will last for 10 hours+ on a single...

Jabra Solemate Max

The Jabra Solemate Max is a powerful, rugged portable Bluetooth speaker that delivers a solid audio experience across most genres, though deep bass can be an issue.

Powerful output, with crisp, full response at moderate-to-high volume levels. Splash- and dust-resistant, sturdy design. NFC-enabled. Can pull audio from computer digitally via USB connection. Built-in speakerphone.

Borders on distortion with deep bass at top volumes. Large and heavy for a portable system. DSP will turn off some purists.

If you like the overall sound description of the Solemate Max, but are looking for something smaller, the original Jabra Solemate and the Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker III are both solid options, but their lower prices and more portable designs mean...

Jabra's slick Solemate Max stumbles on price (review)

Jabra's Solemate Max is a likeable portable Bluetooth speaker with an impressive design and feature set, but it simply doesn't sound as good it should for $400.

The ; delivers good sound and battery life and has a strong feature set and excellent design. It's also water-resistant, has built-in speakerphone capabilities, and is well suited for outdoor use with a convenient carrying handle integrated into the unit.

We expect a little better sound from $400 speaker; separate AC adapter required for charging (no charging via Micro-USB).

The Jabra Soulmate Max is a likeable wireless speaker with some strong selling points, but it simply doesn't justify its current $400 price tag.

Jabra Solemate Max Speaker is Ready to Party Really, Really Hard: Review

The current state of the Bluetooth speaker market is crazy competitive and filled with so many options, so much so that it is really difficult to stand out from all the rest. Fortunately, the Jabra Solemate Max is a very solid addition to the Solemate...

Solid and very rugged construction. Convenient controls on the speaker. Nice loud sound that really shines at higher volumes. Packed with lots of features that make it future-proof. Just the kind of speaker you want to use at an outdoor party. Very...

Some songs lack body. The price is a bit high.

Jabra Solemate Max - Bringing Big Sound to the Great Outdoors

Jabra steps up their game with the Solemate Max, a mid-sized portable Bluetooth speaker that's resistant to dirt, water, and dust. Read on to find out how it sounds.

NFC compatibility for easy pairing ; Robust design for outdoor use ; Large battery for extended play ; USB port for audio input and charging devices

Bass is dry and lacks impact ; High price point ; A bit heavy for a portable product

The Solemate Max is meant to be a modern day boombox equivalent. On that note, it’s certainly capable of producing enough sound to fill your living room (and possibly get you in trouble with your neighbors), and the great battery life and weather...

Jabra Solemate Max Review: The Sneaker Speaker Balloons To Basketball Player Proportions

Jabra, like Jawbone, used to make Bluetooth headsets back when those were all the rage. Their popularity never extended beyond the ranks of particularly annoying real estate agents and I guess “rainmakers” in various fields, however, and so Jawbone,...

Big, room-filling sound ; Long-lasting battery with device charging

Heavy, large ; Expensive

If you want a decently rugged, still portable but large Bluetooth speaker that offers bells and whistles like speakerphone functions, this is probably the top option out there right now. But it’s also $400, which is a big investment to make on...
