Logitech Z-5500 Digital Speaker System

The Logitech Z-5500 Digital 5.1 speaker system appears to be an awesome setup on paper and in looks. Lets see if it lives up to our expectations.

Logitech - Z-5500 Digital

If you've never turned up your speakers while watching the latest Hollywood action blockbuster and felt the thump of an explosion come up through the sofa and reverberate around your ribcage, with the front windows rattling ...

Considering the price, these speakers are excellent and fully at home whether connected to your PC or TV, playing either music or movies. For the latter, the clarity of the dialogue via the central speaker really impressed us.

Logitech Z-5500

As well as dominating the computer peripherals market, Logitech are one of the premiere manufacturers of PC speakers. The Z5500 is their flagship mod...

Strong bass, Great sound overall

A little weak in the music department

If you need a great set of PC speakers for movies and games, then the Z5500s should be a prime candidate. For music lovers they may not be the first choice, but their strong performance all around means they cannot be ignored.

Z-5500 5.1 Speaker System

This top-ranked surround-sound speaker system offers great features and terrific sound.

Digital coaxial and optical inputs, Good sound quality

Can be bass-heavy

Cheaper 5.1-channel speakers are out there, but Logitech's Z-5500 presents an optimal mix of sound and features

Logitech Z-5450 Digital

The Logitech Z-5450 Digital speaker system offers dramatic room-filling sound despite some anomalies, comprehensive multichannel support, and an outstanding connector selection.

Wireless Surround speakers. Flexible input options. Cordless remote. Integrated multichannel decoders. Easy wall-mounting.

Idiosyncratic frequency response. Mounting satellites on stands is tricky. Pricey.

Logitech Z-5300e review

Logitech Z-5300e At $199, the Logitech Z-5300e is a midlevel model in the company's lineup of 5.1-channel multimedia PC speaker systems. It includes five satellite speakers, a subwoofer that houses the system's amplifier, and a control module. In...

Affordable for 5.1 speakers; upmixes two-channel sources to play in all speaker channels; control module with headphone jack; integrated desktop stands double as wall mounts; includes video-game-console input adapter.

Excessively short, hardwired, front-speaker cables; lacks auxiliary audio input; lacks digital audio input; has only acceptable sound quality; so-so control module design.

If you're looking to add straightforward surround sound to your PC, Logitech's Z-5300e 5.1 speaker set delivers respectable but unexceptional performance for a reasonable price.

Logitech Z-5500 Digital

If size really does matter, then the Logitech Z-5500 Digital could be the ultimate 5.1-channel speaker system.

Fearsome volume levels. Plugs directly into almost any analog or digital source. Deep bass. Outstanding tethered control pod and wireless remote.

Bass can overwhelm the sound.

Logitech Z-5500 Digital

With such strong competition in the previous generation of high-end 5.1 speakers, it's hard for a new set to differentiate itself. Logitech's Z-5500 Digital speakers manage to stand out, however, with support not only for your PC, but also your game...

Powerful, crisp sound; Dolby Digital, DTS, DTS 96/24, and PCM 96/24 decoder; wireless remote control; coaxial and optical digital ins; headphone jack.

Expensive; the sub could sound tighter.

A versatile set of high-end 5.1 speakers, Logitech's newest flagship will handle with near-perfect quality as many audio sources as you can throw at it.

Logitech Z-5450 Digital Multimedia Speaker System Review

It seems that I spend more time in front of my computer these days than I do in my home theater. As a result, I listen to music, play games, and watch video at my desk almost every day. The idea of

Can handle a computer, a gaming system, and even has an extra input for a CD/DVD player ; Includes a THX-certified DD/DTS controller (with Dolby Pro Logic II & DTS 96/24) ; Very loud and clean playback of 5.1 sources

Subwoofer becomes muddy as volume level increases when listening to music ; Stereo sound quality becomes harsh at high volume levels ; Boring styling
