Jamo i300 iPod speaker set review

If you like to turn the volume up, the Jamo i300's attractive white (or black) subwoofer contains a 6.5in driver and a 150W amplifier for the sub, and a second 150W amplifier (75W per channel) for the satellite speakers.

Combine an iPod full of music with the Jamo i300 and you’ve got a system that betters many traditional stereos, in a fraction of the space.

iPods don't generally get dedicated 2.1 dock systems. Has Jamo bucked the trend or jumped the shark?

There are plenty of speaker systems enabling you to unleash your iPod's music when you're at home, but few do it with as much style and finesse as Danish hi-fi maker Jamo's new i300 offering.

Smart looking, Impressive sound

A stylish and powerful speaker system that looks good too

Jamo i300

Jamo is the most recent of the big manufacturers to release its iPod dock and we'd been looking forward to reviewing it since we first saw it in action at the 2006 Bristol Show. Costing a whopping ?300 it is the most expensive on test, but then again...

Incredible sound, stylish design, powerful wattage

Expensive

Review: Jamo i300

Could there be a new King in the iPod speaker market?

The design of Jamo's i300 is minimal and sleek with no knobs, buttons or displays - just smooth arctic white surfaces and speaker grills.

Many of the other iPod speakers sets are portable, or at least give the illusion or portability, the i300 is most certainly not portable.

Jamo i300

Competitors are barking at its heels, but the all-black i300 is still a very good iPod dock and PC speaker replacement. Your ears will thank you.

Crystal-clear sound ; Separate sub and satellites leads to placement flexibility ; Attractive finish ; Choice of colours to suit your iPod

Lack of warmth and bass detail ; Limited bass control ; One of the most expensive iPod docks

If you want to listen to music, go for the i-Deck, but if you want a relatively flexible system that is better than most other competitors, this is a good option.

Looking for big, home-stereo sound in a small, attractive package You may have found it.

The Jamo i300 is unique among iPod speaker systems we've tested: It's a sub-sat system that provides home-stereo-quality sound, but its components are small enough to be hidden away in most rooms.

Very good sound quality ; attractive, compact design ; easy-to-use iPod Control Dock ; RF remote ; excellent build quality

Relatively expensive ; audible dip in frequency response at crossover ; basic remote with poor layout

When we first unpacked the iFi last year, our first reaction was to marvel at its size and appearance. The massive 14.5" x 10.5" x 11.5" subwoofer/amplifier unit and 8.5" x 4.75" x 5.5" satellite speakers comprised the largest iPod speaker system we'd...
