Huawei Sound review: Does it deliver sound with soul?

Is Huawei's foray into the speaker market on the up? The Sound has some interesting prospects, but is wired and Bluetooth only, which limits appeal.

More verve to its sound than many portable speakers - especially with treble ; Affordable asking price - it's been discounted from day one ; Striking design

Mains wired only - and there's a large transformer brick ; Not a smart speaker - no voice and app doesn't function ; Bluetooth only - no Wi-Fi (or AirPlay) ; Can't deliver lowest of bass

This wired-only Bluetooth speaker is largely at odds with what people will want from such a product: there's limited connectivity, limitations to bass output, and for a Devialet-engineered speaker it doesn't have as cohesive and complete an audio...

If you want big sound in a compact speaker for an affordable price then the Huawei Sound is great but the user experience is sub-par to say the least

Huawei Sound review: big sound in a small package

If you decide to buy the Huawei Sound, you'll probably purchase the best sounding speakers in the compact form factor segment. This is our review.

I’m an audio fanatic and I can say that the Huawei Sound really impressed me. I didn’t have any issues connecting to a Huawei phone, or any other Android, iPhone, and even my Mac.

The HUAWEI Sound delivers a well rounded performance, and raises the bar with lossless Hi-Res audio and Devialet accosting tuning.

Sleek, attractive design ; Devialet acoustic tuning ; Bestr sound comes from LDAC codec - otherwise its SBC on iPhne ; Surprisingly loud for its size, with low distortion

Piano black finish attracts fingerprints ; Huawei AI Life app is confusing to install and probably not for use here ; Can only connect to one device at a time via Bluetooth ; Is really a smart speaker with far-field mics and Wi-FI but that is disabled...

A well-rounded performance with the help of Devialet acoustic tuning.
