Denon Heos 1 review

Heos 1 is the entry-level model in Denon's family of wireless multiroom speakers, sitting below the top-end Heos 7 (£499), Heos 5 (£349) and Heos 3 (£249). This compact, unobtrusive speaker can be placed anywhere in the house, including the bathroom...

Detailed and full-bodied sound ; Portable functionality ; Robust build ; Wide range of streaming services

No hi-res music support ; No Bluetooth as standard ; Unusual setup procedure ; A few operational niggles

Denon HEOS 1

The HEOS 1 is wireless multiroom speaker that's looking to sonically shoot down the Sonos PLAY:1. It's also the smallest in the HEOS family that started with last year's HEOS 3, HEOS 5 and HEOS 7, and we've just got our hands on and opened our ears to...

Denon HEOS 1: Portability, Bluetooth connectivity and water resistance (hands-on) - Pocket-lint

Denon announced its entry into the multi-room arena last year, hoping to take on Sonos on"head-to-head". Now the company has extended the HEOS wireless

Denon HEOS 1 review: Speaker offers ruggedness without wires

The HEOS 1 has a rugged design, optional Bluetooth and splashproof portability for the road, and it works great with Denon's multiroom music ecosystem at home.

The Denon HEOS 1 offers a rugged build and decent audio quality in an affordable package. The HEOS app is easy to use and attractive-looking. The addition of the HEOS Go package for $99 offers a lot of flexibility including battery power,...

The HEOS without the Go pack isn't as compelling. Setup of wireless requires a proprietary cable. The app can behave oddly and the number of services pales in comparison to Sonos. For audiophiles there's no high-res support.

The Denon HEOS 1 offers a rugged design and a great feature set to users who want the flexibility of both multiroom music and optional Bluetooth portability.

Denon Heos 1

The Denon Heos 1 offers very good sound for a small multi-room speaker, but the app experience and support lags behind the competition.

Solid audio performance with rich bass and clear highs. Spotify Connect compatible.

Requires add-on pack to stream via Bluetooth. Mostly streams music solely via Heos app, not mobile device's native music menus.

From an audio standpoint, we really like the Denon Heos 1, but from an operational standpoint, it's not our favorite. As far as multi-room Wi-Fi speakers go, the Sonos Play:1 is our Editors' Choice in this price range, thanks to its excellent sound...

Great sound and easy to set up.

Had the speaker just over a week now and it's brilliant very well made with a great sound. Easy to set up and once it's set up its very easy to use the perfect multi room solution.

Handy addition for wireless listening in kitchen

Used with optional Go Pack battery for portability. Am only using in mono but sounds OK for casual listening. Might buy another for upstairs! Consumes power all the time and there doesn't seem to be an auto-standby to reduce consumption, so that has to...

Great speaker

This is a great little speaker, I purchased it to go with a Denon AV Receiver so I could have a multiroom setup. It's very easy to set this up, stream to it as part of multiroom or separately. The sound is good, it sounds the same as the Sonos 1....
