B&W 685 Theatre review

Best traditional package £1000-£1500, Awards 2010. A smooth effortless sound, that still packs in detail and excitement, while remaining nonchalantly

Looks good ; sounds detailed, dynamic and involving with surround sound and stereo

The speakers are on the big side ; don’t expect house-shaking bass weight

Best traditional package £1000-£1500, Awards 2010. It’s always a pleasure to hear this system at work: a worthy Award-winner

Bowers & Wilkins 685 review

Latest budget range features revised styling and engineering

Delivers a smooth, even-handed sound

May be too cautious and laid back for some

With classy cosmetics and advanced drivers, this 'budget' two-way is very cleverly voiced to suit any likely application - it doesn't have the most exciting sound, but it's a very safe bet

There are more talented rivals on the scene, but the veterans are enduring greats

Big, coherent soundstage ; impressive dynamic ability ; boundless drive and attack

Treble could be better integrated ; Very tough new competition

Bowers & Wilkins 685

Typically, B&W uses Kevlar as cone material for its 165mm mid-bass driver which is fitted with a fixed phase-plug designed to increase coherence in the upper frequency range before the tweeter takes over. Here, B&W claims that the 685 has a minimalist...

Beautiful low-distortion balanced sound with very capable delivery of lower frequencies. Good depth and width of staging. Smooth design will blend into most rooms

May need fine positional and porting adjustment to damp down exuberant bass delivery in some listening environments. Wood print not the prettiest

Bowers & Wilkins 685 Bookshelf Loudspeaker Reviewed

My introduction into the audiophile world consisted of a pair of inexpensive monitor speakers mated to a simple, affordable integrated amp. Throw in some generic lamp cord and my bout with the disease we call audiophilia began. Truth be told,......

Bowers & Wilkins 685 Loudspeaker

Let's get straight to the point: B&W's 685 is a terrific little loudspeaker. It has impressive tonal balance, tremendous rhythmic authority, conjures a nice, open soundstage, has impressive if not super-extended bass response, a singing treble, plays...
