SanDisk Z400s SSD Review

SanDisk has the exclusive on Silicon Motion's SM2246XT controller. What's more, we got our 128GB Z400s for just $.25/GB. But is this a true low-cost contender, or just a cheap SSD?

At $44.99, the Z400s is a very low-cost SSD. It's at least five times faster than a hard drive with random data and has consistent sequential performance under light workloads

The Z400s is also much smaller than a hard drive. Performance isn't everything, unless it's either a lot of performance or a lot of capacity

I really liked the Z400s 128GB at 25 cents per gigabyte. I don't know what happened to that price, but it appears to be gone now. At $44.99, the price is still low compared to many of the other products on the market. However, there are some drives...

SANDISK SD8SNAT-128G-1122

My first experience of a M.2 SSD drive. It was a 5 minute job to install. Couldn't be easier.

Nothing about the drive itself. Had a bit of configuring to do with the BIOS and Windows 10 to get it work.

I was a bit sceptical when I saw the price but i really didn't want to spend a lot of money on an old laptop. Put it in my dell Inspiron 1564 and it's really brought it back to life. The hard drive runs like a charm. Great hard drive to run your...

Small, great for a C drive, doesn't use a SATA channel. Only gave 1 for reliability, as I've only been using it for 24 hrs so far!

Solid, inexpensive drive.

Comes with only the SSD, nothing else, so if you need a height adapter for installing into a device, such as some laptops and other applications, you will need to get that separately.

Low price. I only need this for a network gateway running pfSense, which uses FreeBSD and doesn't require much in the way of performance from a drive. This fits the bill. Has threaded metal fastener holes on sides and bottom.

None, really, other than for a drive at this price, expectations shouldn't be too high, although if purchasing as an upgrade from HDD, it should provide a noticeable improvement in performance, though another $10-15 might get yet a better drive.
