The SanDisk Extreme is poky compared with the fleet-footed Samsung 840 Pro 256GB. But it's a whole lot cheaper and it still blows away the fastest mechanical drive.
Although it's only an average performer, the inexpensive SanDisk Extreme delivers tremendous bang for your SSD buck.

SanDisk may not be a household name within the SSD market but as one of the primary flash memory suppliers, their products have been used in countless
Amazing Price to Performance Ratio ; Excellent Performance ; Low power requirements
Half the NAND ICs does seem to limit performance in some scenarios ; Left us craving even more ; No 2.5” to 3.5” adapter bracket included ; So cheap that there is zero reasons to not buy another SSD, even if you don’t need one
SanDisk’s Extreme series represents the entry of a serious competitor into the already crowded high end SSD market. For the most part,

SanDisk Extreme SSD uses SF-2281 controller and 24 nm flash memory made by SanDisk. We have never a seen a combination like that before, so it is particularly interesting to check it out and see if contemporary Toggle Mode NAND will be able to breathe...

We started this report with a bit of a discussion regarding the unique position that SanDisk holds with respect to pricing and their ability to reduce the ‘line in the sand’ further. If this drive can prove to be a ‘top performer’ and is priced right,...

Firstly let me say that unless you have up to date SATA3 equipment, you will not get the best performance from this drive. But that really doesn't matter. Here's why:

Purchased in 2012, almost every day use. still works
None. Was one of the best back in the day

I bought this SSD because I wanted to load flight simulators much quicker. The difference is drastic: from 1-2 minutes for loading to around 20-30 seconds of loading. This somewhat offsets the problems I had with the drive, but recently the drive has...
Still running after two years ; Fast read speed: clocked at 510 mb/s ; Decent write speed: clocked at 300-400mb/s ; I get to the log on screen in less than ten seconds ; Startup apps are loaded very quickly
Random os crashes on start up that are fixed after restarting the computer any where from 1-3 times with Windows 8. Completely crashed when updating to Windows 8.1. Oddly, I haven't had any issues when running Windows 7: this is after I did a clean...

Only after 2 years? Last time I checked the drive had roughly about 2TB of data written on it. Very disappointed with SanDisk! Time to find a new maker!
Fast as any other SSDs out there
Died after 2 years of service in a notebook... Sad! Always thought of SanDisk as a reliable brand... Right until the SSDs died.. Suddenly! With no sign of weakness... Last Saturday tried to boot my notebook... It almost made all the way to the login...
Consumer review (newegg.com)
I bought a Sandisk 120GB SSD just over 2 years ago. It died after 11-12 months of use. Sandisk tech support (after about a month delay) sent me a Sandisk 240GB Extreme SSD. Fresh install, good as new (I thought). Fast forward to now. After another 12...
It's an SSD, it should be awesome. It was. A long, long time ago
Died in about a year. A sandisk SSD that dies in a year, after my previous sandisk SSD died in a year... what terrible products
