Samsung 64GB SATA-2 FlashSSD

Samsung has optimized its new solid-state drive, the 64GB SATA-2 FlashSSD, for better streaming performance, both with reads and writes, and the results show in our benchmark tests.

Samsung 64GB

Excellent cost-to-speed ratio

Slow read transfer rates

While there are certainly some high points in the Samsung’s benchmark scores, the drive’s overall performance was just slightly better than average. But given that most other SSDs we’ve tested offer less than a 10 percent performance improvement yet...

How to Prevent Over-HEATING!!

This awesome SDD is SO FAST, that your CPU will no longer average 60-80% idle time, but rather (finally) have to really work, especially during DVD copying, graphic programs, serious gaming, etc.

VERY IMPORTANT addendum to my review of 5 weeks ago!!

None except high price which is dropping. The more the economy is trashed, the lower the price will go.

The FUTURE is here!

Since the fast single-cell SSD's currently have limited storage, you can get ~2% more space by formatting it to 512B or 1KB cluster size versus the Win default size. Also, since SSD's do NOT need defragging, you can have it 99+% full without slowing it...

F-A-S-T-E-R than a speeding bullet. Installed it into my 2yo laptop in < 2 minutes. Partitioned and formatted it, then copied my data to it easily. It is noiseless, cool, and looks very durable (2MM hrs MTBF!). NOW my laptop is ~2x faster! WinXP-Pro...

PRICE = ouch! Prices will drop by end of '08 or 1-09. I was lucky and just bought mine "used" from a computer re-seller for $450 via auction. Normally I buy NewEgg of course, but I could not afford $800

Awesome

Decreased boot time on IBM T60P Core2 2.33 Vista Business from over 4 minutes to 1:30 seconds. I know that still seems a little excessive but the machine loads about every conceivable utility known. Before the machine would be nonresponsive during boot...

Speed, Quiet

Having to trim a 200GB (100GB+ used) hard drive with Vista installed on it to 64GB. Managed to get it down to 37GB

Fits perfectly in a macbook

Gotta pay attention to disk space with this guy. Get the language packs and garage band out of there.

Awesome. Huge speed boost. Installing leopard on it took < 20 minutes. Here's what I did: buy the cheapest macbook out there, with no upgrades. 2.1 ghz Penryn-3M, 2x512 mb apple ram. Get this drive (or the cheaper, albeit slightly slower and more...

None.

SAMSUNG MCCOE64G5MPP-0VA00 2.5" 64GB SATA II Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - OEM

My Desktop PC with Vista boots 17% faster than with my old 10,000 RPM HDD and a definite improvement in gaming

I would have given it a 5 rating, but more thought needs to be given to the screw hole placement, if this HDD is used in a desktop PC. I had to drill 4 holes in my PC case and use spacers

Samsung 64GB SLC SSD

This drive is absolutely one of the best investments I have made in my entire computer career. If someone is willing to spend a bit more money for an extremely fast harddrive (or SSD in this case), have their data much more secure, consume less power...

The cost is a bit high, but as the technology becomes more readily available it should drop

Best Upgrade I EVER DID! Forget CPU mhz, get this drive & Experiance HUGE GAINS ACROSS THE BOARD!

I can't believe how much faster this drive is than the last SSD drive (Super Talent) I bought which was Piece of KRAEP in comparison, & the best part is (At least now) the price is LOWER!!!

Extremely FAST in every respect even compared to the fastest Desktop drive. This thing is dead silent.

Steep price, but LOOK! The price just dropped to only $799! That makes this one the one to buy. OCZ drive is EXACTLY the same drive as this. OCZ SSD is nothing more than a re-branded Samsung SSD.
