awesome

I use these for OS, apps ("program files"), and the swap file. I use a RAID for all data. With XP you have room on the 16GB for all that and some free space. (If apps take up too many gigs you will install them to another drive, i.e. the RAID)

The computer is faster, quieter, and I assume cooler too with less power consumption. Going in and out of standby mode and booting is much faster now. This is way better than a cheaper "apacer" SSD I had already gotten. Get on the SSD bandwagon before...

This is not ready for desktop use. You must use IDE and not SATA. You must get an adapter, not available on this site at the time I ordered. Get Addonics. This 16GB model may not have anough for future OS's

Works Off the Bat

I know that flash drives die after a certain number of writes. I wonder how long this drive will continue to be awesome. Also, I am not sure if Linux is handling the drive appropriately. It works, but could it be working better?

I bought this to replace the failing drive in my Fujitsu P7230. This drive fit perfectly in my machine, and had the exact same connector. It was literally plug and play

The price is a bit steep, but that's what you get with solid state. Also, I can no longer use the recovery disks to install Vista. That's fine because I'm using Ubuntu anyway

FAST!

Wish I had bought the 32gb one, that may have been better for me. I'm still very satisfied with my purchase however, If you are looking to speed up your laptop, this is a very good choice. Also if you are looking to install one of these make sure you...

Very Fast, windows boots up under 15 seconds for me, and thats going all the way into the desktop and everything is done loading. Takes about 25-35 seconds on an Sata 5400rpm which I had prior to this purchase. Programs open up rather quickly also, and...

Price, size of hard drive ; 16gb isn't enough for power users, just the operating system and some office applications will fit, maybe 1 or 2 games if you are lucky ; Write speeds are not that quick, especially for a 200 dollar hard drive. But at least...

Very fast, but requires adapters

Uses an odd, tiny IDE connector, (the kind used in iPods). It took me a couple hours just to figure out what the connector was even called. Google for " 1.8" toshiba ide adapter" They don't even sell the adapter here on newegg, so I got one from...

Very fast, 0.2ms seek time according to HDTune. Completely silent. Tiny, cheap compared to memory cards

Unusual socket. You'll need to get a special adapter, unless you want to put it in an iPod
