When OCZ's Trion 100 was released last July it proved to be a pretty impressive value-forward SSD series. It also happened to be a rather big deal for

IOPS performance has improved over older Trion 100.
SSD market is both saturated and extremely competitive.
Kitguru says: The OCZ Trion 150 is a marked improvement over the older Trion 100 model, and prices look to be very competitive indeed.

The OCZ Trion 150 is a good budget SSD, but the lack of cloning software and accessories may cause trouble for newbie tinkerers.
Good performance. Advance-swap replacement warranty.
No accessory bundle or software.

Last year's OCZ Trion 100 was the first drive released by OCZ as a subsidiary of Toshiba, and was really more of a Toshiba product that was released under the OCZ brand. As a prime opportunity to reestablish the OCZ brand post-bankruptcy, the Trion 100...
However, for all that the Trion 150 didn't live up to our fears and turned out to be pretty good for a sub-20nm planar TLC drive, it also did nothing to significantly close the performance gap with MLC drives. This means the price still needs to be...

Whenever I go to university, I park my car at a location about eight minutes' walk away from the engineering building. Now, eight minutes of walking is not too far away, but if you ask me what the best way to get from the engineering building to my car...
With new flash chips and an updated firmware underneath the hood of the OCZ Trion 150 480GB, the mission of this drive has not changed. The mission was not to explore new frontiers to raise the bar in performance. Instead, the mission was to offer more...

The Trion 150 is of course the successor to the Trion 100, which we took a look at this past year. The Trion 150 features a rather mysterious Toshiba controller
– Solid performance ; – Price ; – Compatible with OCZ’s SSD Toolbox software ; – 3-year ShieldPlus warranty
– TLC NAND has lower write speeds, IOPS and endurance than MLC NAND
OCZ definitely has a contender for an inexpensive solid state drive. Drives like these will make is very easy for people to upgrade their current systems with solid state drives. As a successor to the Trion 100 the Trion 150 is faster and comes in at a...

OCZ is on its second-generation TLC-based effort. The new Trion 150 updates the flash to Toshiba's 15nm TLC, but the largest improvement comes from firmware that increases sustained write performance.
OCZ's ShieldPlus warranty and SSD Guru software are among the best available. The Trion 150 includes both if you're willing to overlook some of its shortcomings
The Trion 150 is a welcome replacement for the poorly-received Trion 100, but it's still not as competitive as it needs to be. It's difficult to recommend this model when the same company offers an MLC-based SSD for the same price
Products like the OCZ ARC 100 and Zotac Premium Edition with MLC flash disarm any value arguments from the Trion 150 right out of the gate. The new Trion improves on some of the performance limitations found in the original model, but that's still not...

We have in our labs OCZ's second budget solid-state drive based on triple-level-cell (or TLC) flash. The new Trion 150 SSD is marketed as a "better" hard disk replacement and promises to offer up to 50% faster performance in many real world use cases...
Street price for the Trion 150 480GB drive is currently $139.99 over Amazon.com. At this price, we have to do with approximately $0.28 per gigabyte for the new drive - a nice price if you are considering a SATA SSD for a system upgrade.

In some ways the SSD market has stagnated over the past few years. For the majority of consumers that is because the limitations of SATA connectors mean our speed has been hovering around 500-550MB/s for a while. Of course higher priced drives using...
Starting with the build quality of the Trion 150 it is hard to find any issue of note. The metal casing gets us off to a good start, it’s always preferable to plastic. Then inside the drive is packed with quality components, Toshiba branded, including...
