The OCZ RevoDrive 3 X2 Preview: Second-Gen SandForce Goes PCIe

Solid-state tech marches on, and we're already approaching SATA's 6 Gb/s ceiling. OCZ is once again stepping in with a PCIe-based solution with ...

But if you're a price-conscious storage nut, you're also probably painfully aware that the fastest devices are the most expensive. And if a Vertex 3 SSD is pricey, the equivalent of multiple Vertex 3s on a PCI Express card are naturally even more so....

OCZ RevoDrive 3 X2 (480GB) Preview: 200K IOPS & 1.5GB/s for $1699?

Although consumer SSDs are far from a mature technology, PCIe SSDs are even further behind on the growth curve. The upside is huge. As SandForce has already demonstrated with the right dataset a single SSD can nearly saturate the 6Gbps SATA bus. Rather...

I believe there's a very specific niche that is interested in something like the RevoDrive 3. A customer that needs the performance and is too resource limited to go after the more expensive solutions on the market. I believe it's a lot like what we...

OCZ RevoDrive3 X2 Review

OCZ just keeps pushing the envelope on its PCI Express SSDs. The first RevoDrive contained two 60GB SF-1200-powered SSDs in RAID 0, with a Silicon Image PCI-to-SATA controller. The RevoDrive X2 kept the same architecture, but added a second PCB with...

Absurdly fast, especially in 4KB random reads and writes; great real-world results

Absurdly expensive; half again the price of Vertex 3s in RAID

Earlier RevoDrives were marketed to enthusiasts, but you’ll find the RevoDrive3 X2 under the “Workstation” category on OCZ’s website—with good reason: SandForce drives are already optimized for frequent small-file random reads and writes at high queue...

OCZ Revo 3 X2 240GB

Truly remarkable speed with this PCI-E SSD.

As we've said before and we'll continue to hammer any chance we can get, the single biggest bottleneck in modern systems is the traditional plattered hard drive, and using an SSD in your system will make such a massive difference that you'll want to...

The OCZ RevoDrive series continues to demonstrate the growth of technologies and innovation in the SSD market.

While the RevoDrive 3 series is not going to fit into everyone's budget, it is simply one of the best storage options on the market, consumer or otherwise.

Today we have the higher specification RevoDrive model, the X2 attached to our test system and will be putting it through a selection of real world and synthetic tests to find out if OCZ can meet their claims of 1500MB/s speed and 230k IOPS.
