Kingston SSDNOW V+100 512GB review

Exceptional storage performance does not come cheap

Speed ; Low power consumption ; Completely silent ; Minimal heat generation ; Garbage Cleaning technology promises good performance over extended period of time ; Nice upgrade bundle kit

SSD technology is still ridiculously expensive, and R14,000 for a 512GB hard drive feels a bit insane ; 512GB is not a lot of disk space to work with these days, even as an OS drive

Running an operating system off an SSD is a truly glorious experience. Simply put, the difference between a regular disk hard drive and the Kingston SSD NOW V+ 100 is tremendous. Windows boot times are dramatically decreased, as are file access times....

Kingston SSDNow V+100 Review

We ran a feature on the feasibility of solid state storage last month, and pretty much came to the conclusion that it was a good idea to boost the performance of your computer. Providing you had the money to throw at it.

Kingston SSDNow V+100 Review

I'm not sure what it is about SSD manufacturers and overly complicated product stacks. Kingston has no less than six different SSD brands in its lineup. The E Series, M Series, SSDNow V 100, SSDNow V+ 100, SSDNow V+ 100E and SSDNow V+ 180. The E and M...

Kingston, like many of its competitors, desperately needs a simplified product lineup. On the one hand, Kingston has hedged its bets. With three different controller makers supplying hardware for its six SSDs, Kingston can't go wrong. However, the...

Kingston 96GB SSDNow V+100 performance evaluation

As with our last SSD evaluation, this is not going to be the usual Solid-State Drive (SSD) review touting the theoretical advantages of the SSD over the mechanical Hard Drive (HDD).  Instead, our evaluation is going to focus on Kingston's improved 96GB...

The SSD is of a magnitude faster generally than the mechanical hard drive in almost every way. Windows startup is blazing fast and shutdown is noticeably quicker ; Kingston’s SSDNow V100 96GB drive has improved in every way over the previous 100...

Price per GB is very high compared to mechanical hard drives ; Limited storage compared to HDDs ; 96GB is too small for a hardcore gamer; 128GB makes a difference

As our MrK concluded last year and we also concluded in our evaluation of the 128GB version a few months ago, SSD technology is one of the most rapidly improving. With more and more motherboard manufacturers offering SATA 3 6Gb/s ports, the ceiling for...

The Kingston SSDNow V+100 96GB SSD Upgrade Bundle

Sometimes things just have a natural progression in the world of manufacturing and industry. It would make sense that Standard Oil would become the manufacturer of Vaseline and other petroleum based products for a time, even though Vaseline is far from...

Excellent Performance and Transfer Speeds ; Increased Application Performance and Start Up Times ; Excellent Included Software and Accessories ; 3 year Warranty With 24/7 Support ; Independent Garbage Collection Scheme For Improved Performance...

None

The Kingston SSDNow V+100 96GB is a very interesting drive. The V+100 absolutely crushes the reference enterprise class WD RE3 7200rpm in every benchmark and will go toe to toe with the Sandforce 1200 drives. The benchmark numbers are easy enough to...

Kingston SSDNow V+100 128GB SSD Review

Kingston has rolled out their SSDNow V+100 SSD series which they claim is 25% faster than its predecessor even though it utilizes the same Toshiba controller. This drive has TRIM support for Windows 7 users and 'always-on' garbage collection for those...

The Kingston V+100 128GB SSD is a much improved version of the V+ drives of an earlier generation and rivals the performance of others in its class. Bundled with a very generous set of accessories and "always on" garbage collection, Kingston has done a...

Consumer review (newegg.com)

died after 1.5 years

Good thing it died before the two year warranty ran out...

ran for 1.5 years; improved boot speed (not that I reboot all that often)

after 1.5 years of use, it started to disappear from the system once every 10-24 hours. Not so good. RMA requested from Kingston

Kingston SVP100S2/96G

Hard to complain about the speed when many of the SSD competitors have horrible reliability issues.

Low cost, paid less than .80/gb AFTER REBATE. Almost 1 year old and still running fine. Much faster than the 640 gb WD black drive it replaced

Speed is not as good as SSD models in the similar price class. Wish I had bought 2 of them when the prices were low
