Intel 750 Series SSD review

Easy to install ; PCI card looks slick ; Incredible performance ; Proves NVMe has potential

PCIe card is large ; 2.5-inch drive requires uncommon connection

The Intel 750 Series is easily the quickest solid state drive we’ve ever reviewed. Its performance is an incredible leap forward and, more importantly, its use of the new NVMe standard means the drive is fully bootable and operates as a plug-and-play...

Intel 750 Series SSD Review

Mechanical hard drives have certainly served consumers well over the years. They sit in our PCs, spinning away day and night without issue. Other tech has come and gone, but still the HDD has remained although in recent years SSDs have taken a chunk of...

Looking first at the build quality and design of the Intel 750 Series SSD (in its PCIe form factor) we have a drive which taken on its own looks nice. The large metal heat spreader looks pretty cool for example. That said, this is a drive which is...

Wow! Fast!

I installed into my MSI Z97S Krait mobo in the second PCIe 3.0 slot and it took away 8 lanes from my GPU, but oh my goodness, is this SSD fast! It is as fast as advertised, and boots fine since my Mobo supports NVMe.

Make sure you confirm NVMe support on your motherboard BIOS before purchasing. It's still cutting edge for most computers now, and it's a year old already!

Faster replacement for SATA SSD

The main benefit is I can boot of this so can use it exclusively for internal storage, i.e. no HDD, no SSDs connected through SATA. Next I am going to install a second one and try using software RAID 1 to mirror the first.

- Faster than SSD connected through SATA interface; - Can boot off it (GPT partition table; Debian Linux; GigaByte 990FXA-UD5 in EFI-only mode)

- Smaller capacity available than slower storage; - Unable to use my motherboard's (fake) RAID since that works through SATA connectors; - Costs more per byte.

Epic speed, Make sure your MB will support it.

Price per GB is high, but with this speed and IOPS it is hard to beat. Benchmark with Anvil Read Seq 4MB : 504.93 IOPS, 2019.72 MB/s 4K: 9,127.99 IOPS, 35.66 MB/s 4K QD4: 34,027.84 IOPS, 133 MB./s 4K QD16: 147,181.12 IOPS, 574.93 MB/s 32K: 4,872.53...

Amazing speed and IOPS. Doesn't use a SATA port.

Not supported by some motherboards.

Worth the price!

It's worth it, even if you don't have the extra cash!!!!

Insanely fast! Installation was easy and quick. It looks really good.

Getting it to boot properly was a little tricky but after that it's been flawless.
