I can verify that Duck's helpful post is correct. His numbers are the same as my boot drive. You can get higher numbers (still below what they post on their site), but only if this is NOT a boot drive with the running OS installed. Why would anyone use...
The Sandstone 1200 controller is getting fairly mature, unfortunately this particular model is capped (not by NOT much though!) Kind of like buying an OEM Vista right before Win7 was released. MS will gladly take your hard earned bones for an upgrade ;...
Unfortunately, these drives have been hot sellers and I think the 2 week turnaround is unrealistic from Mushkin ; To Computerman, to even say with a straight face that a 7200 (I'm sure you meant 7.2, NOT 5.2K) RPM drive is as fast as ANY SSD is...

Maybe this drive will perform better in Xp or Win 7. But the unit appears overpriced by $100...........
It worked out of the box. Realized I could enhance the speed of my Vista with 5400 rpm Hard drive
Startup and shutdown were slower. Ran Crystal benchmarks. 130 on read and 70 on seg. Randoms were around 10. Disabled index etc

installed Ubuntu 10.04 in less than 8 minutes. Benchmarked using builtin benchmark in Disk Utility.
Very fast - 250-260MBps average 279MB peak ; Good price ; Nice firmware
The intel drives in the same price range have slightly faster read speeds (not write though :) ) ; Was averaging 260ish at first, but after a few days it settled around 249.5

Using it as a primary boot drive with only 1-2 games and labor intensive programs on the main drive at a time. With SCII, Adobe, Office and the OS I still have 22gb available. # Operating system:Windows 2.5.1.2600 (SP 3) # CPU type:AMD Phenom(tm) 9950...
So far no lag problems with this SSD at all. Boot and shutdown is much faster. Programs load up with ease. Seems like one of the most affordable SSD's around for this kind of speed. This thing has very quick small read/write which is probably where you...
No where near 285/275. I expected 260/250 but it didn't even reach that

I have never purchased anything from Mushkin before but the look and feel of the prduct seems to be pretty good quality. The packaging was great as well. I love it. If you are thinking of upgrading to a SSD you should definitley grab one of the...
Overall great product! Seems to pretty high quality. Noticeable difference moving from a standard HD. Would definitley buy over again ; The new Sandforce SF1200 controllers and the speed for read and write are amazing

Got it in today (5/19/10) and installed Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid fresh in 8 minutes start to finish...poor IDE controller didnt know what hit it. Still gave it 5 eggs even though I now wish I bought the Intel drive.
Max Read: 276.8MBps ; Avg Read: 263.9MBps ; System booted 10.04 Lucid in 6 seconds from BIOS splash
Intel SSDSA2M080G2GC specs ; 285MBps Max ; 273.2MBps ; Around the same price and 20 more gigs
