LG G Watch

OK Google, make us a really good Android Wear smartwatch

Google Now notifications work well ; Accurate voice recognition ; Reasonable selection of early Android Wear apps

Poor battery life ; Plain, ordinary watch design ; Poor outdoor visibility

Without stating the obvious, the G Watch needs to be connected to your phone, specifically one running Android 4.3 JellyBean or higher to get the optimal experience. When disconnected, you do still get some stripped back functionality like the ability...

LG G Watch R

The best Android Wear watch so far

Attractive, sports watch-style design ; Useful watch faces ; Bright, sharp, vibrant screen

Battery life is still disappointing ; Android Wear needs work ; No wireless charging

Like the G Watch, a little vibration motor gives notifications a more physical feel so you don’t miss them, while the embedded microphone is positioned near to the face to ensure commands are picked up nice and clear.

LG G Watch R review

Finally, a smartwatch that actually looks like a watch

Actually looks like a watch ; Bright, clear round display ; Acceptable performance

Two day battery life ; Pricey ; Only charges with dock

The G Watch R is one of the best smartwatches on the market, but it's still far from a polished device. Android Wear needs more work, it feels odd talking to your wrist and the price tag is hard to swallow.

Is the Android Wear-powered LG G Watch finally a wearable worth owning?

Android Wear ; Fast and easy to use ; Simple to set up

Lower res screen then rival ; Proprietary charging dock ; Battery life

LG G Watch R review: Android Wear's new champion

Hot on the heels of the LG G Watch, the Korean company has released a new version of its Android Wear device in the G Watch R. It certainly looks the part too: blurring the lines between traditional watch design and modern smartwatch functions. The LG...

Best looking Android Wear device to date, decent screen, solid battery life, integrated heart-rate monitor

Android Wear's ongoing shortcomings, GPS not built-in

The LG G Watch R is the best looking Android Wear watch you can buy. That round face is attractive and finds a place between classic watches and the future of the smartwatch.

LG G Watch review

The LG G Watch is one of the first Android Wear devices, and the most affordable at the time of writing, making it the first step in a the brave new world of Google's Android platform. Priced at £159 it's the asking price that puts the LG G Watch...

Most affordable entry point to Android Wear, slick and fast, comfortable to wear, open to personal strap choices

Outdoor visibility is poor, battery life isn't long enough, design perhaps a little too generic, voice-centric operation

Priced at £159 it's the asking price that puts the LG G Watch within reach of many. For those fans of technology, and fans of Android, this is a great entry point to a new world of Android Wear smartwatches.

LG G Watch R review

Update 22/05/15: LG confirms Wi-Fi is coming to its smartwatch soon(ish)

Excellent, fully circular screen ; Great battery life ; Flawless performance

Looks are a bit meh ; Needs a charging cradle

It might not be as pretty as the Moto 360, but the G Watch R excels in every other area

LG G Watch R Review: In Depth

When you're part of a select group like the first wave of Android Wear devices, a standout member like the Moto 360 is a tough...

Strong performance ; Great screen ; Versatile design

Requires charging cradle ; Expensive ; No integrated GPS

LG did more than just change the shape of the screen on its second Android-based wearable and it shows. The design of the LG G Watch R will appeal to a far broader audience than potentially any other wearable out there right now. It’s a contemporary...
