Garmin Forerunner 225 review

Garmin's new GPS running watch measures your heart rate from your wrist

Easy to use Heart rate tracking from your wrist Infinitely customisable intervals

Lack of running dynamics No micro-UBS charging

Garmin's first heart rate tracking watch may not satisfy die-hard athletes but its range of features and engaging interface is brilliant for recreational runners.

Garmin Forerunner 225 review: the leader of the running watch pack?

Garmin's running watch measures your heart rate and hits the right beats

East to use on the move ; Strap-free heart rate tracking ; Great interval training

A bit on the bulky side ; No micro USB charging ; Lacks a few high-end features

Garmin Forerunner 225 review: The running watch that gets almost everything right

Garmin's first watch to include a wrist-based heart-rate monitor also has all the bells and whistles runners look for.

The Garmin Forerunner 225 has an always-on display, accurate GPS for tracking runs, a wrist-based heart-rate monitor, and can track steps and calories. It's water-resistant and can be worn in the shower and pool.

Heart-rate tracking is limited to workouts, there's no automatic syncing, sleep data lacks detailed information, and Garmin's mobile app is dated.

Runners interested in tracking both heart-rate and all-day activities can't go wrong with the Forerunner 225.

The Forerunner 225 is Garmin's first device to include an optical heart-rate sensor

Garmin's newest watch can measure pace, distance and heart rate while running, along with tracking steps taken, distance traveled, calories burned and your sleep at night.

Garmin Forerunner 225

The Forerunner 225 is Garmin's first runner's watch with a built-in heart rate monitor. It's pricey compared with similar fitness trackers, but it's an excellent running companion.

First Garmin Forerunner with optical heart rate monitor on the wrist. Includes GPS. Superb battery life. Very easy to use. Tracks steps, sleep, calories burned, weight, runs, and other activities.

Pricey. Frustrating charger. Very sporty for a 24/7 tracker. Heart rate monitor designed for activity, not resting heart rate measurements.

If you're not already a dedicated Garmin user and are shopping around, I'd only recommend the Forerunner 225 if you intend to use it mainly for tracking runs. For daily step counting, there are better options; I prefer the Fitbit Surge and the Garmin...
