UE Megablast

UE Megablast review: Big, loud and now armed with Amazon Alexa – what's not to love?

Stupidly loud ; Decent sound for the money ; Long battery life

Bass can be overpowering ; Alexa smart functions are a little hit and miss

The Megablast is a bodaciously loud Bluetooth speaker with some tagged-on smart functionality.

Ultimate Ears Megablast Alexa smart speaker review

Alexa is on the move

Waterproof and robust ; Portable ; Great sound ; Convenient Alexa integration ; Good updates coming

Still awaiting some key features ; Expensive ; Charging dock sold separately

With the Megablast, Ultimate Ears has created one of the best looking and sounding portable speakers around. Thanks to its Amazon Alexa integration, it's one of the smartest too. Unfortunately, it's lacking some key features at launch and for those...

Ultimate Ears Megablast review

A fun and energetic portable speaker with nicely controlled performance.

Dynamic, detailed sound ; Enthusiastic, punchy rhythms ; Precise, taut basslines ; Goes really very loud ; Excellent build and design

Presentation is slightly lean ; Not fully featured just yet

Alexa voice control is a bonus, but we love this portable speaker’s fun, energetic and admirably controlled performance most of all

Ultimate Ears Megablast review: Mr Boombastic, say me fantastic

With Alexa skills thrown into the mix, the UE Megablast transforms one of our favourite speakers into something more connected. It's a great

Solid build and water protection ; Sound quality ; Volume ; 16 hours of life ; Spotify music integration

Wi-Fi stability ; Power Up base not included ; Alexa experience not as smooth as Echo

With Alexa skills thrown into the mix, the UE Megablast transforms one of our favourite speakers into something more connected. It's a great performer, waterproof and robustly built, with software updates bringing essential feature updates. Just make...

Ultimate Ears UE Megablast

If you want to take Alexa on the go, the UE Megablast is one of the biggest, most powerful smart speakers you can tote and expose to the elements without worry.

Powerful sound. Rugged, portable design. Integrates Amazon Alexa voice control.

Can distort on deep sub-bass. Lacks some voice control features. No speakerphone.

The UE Megablast is a powerful portable speaker that takes the solid performance and rugged design of the Megaboom and adds Alexa voice control to the mix. It easily overpowers the smaller and less expensive Amazon Tap, as well as the Echo itself.

This is the best-sounding portable Alexa-enabled speaker

While it's expensive and could use a few more features, UE's Blast speaker sounds great for a portable Alexa-enabled speaker.

The UE MegaBlast is a portable, fully waterproof Wi-Fi and Bluetooth speaker that has Amazon's Alexa voice assistant built in. It sounds very good for its compact size, is durable and offers strong battery life.

Somewhat expensive; speakers can't be linked; no Alexa voice support for Spotify playback (can only stream Spotify via Bluetooth); USB charging port is a little bit of a pain to access, making the optional charging base more of a must-have accessory...

While it's expensive and still a work in progress, UE's Megablast speaker is the best-sounding portable Alexa-enabled speaker out there right now.

Ultimate Ears Megablast and Blast Review: Alexa cuts the cord

Bluetooth speakers may be a commodity at this point, but Ultimate Ears wants to set the new Blast and Megablast apart with Amazon's Alexa. Joining Bluetooth is WiFi, and the ability to speak to Amazon's virtual assistant: whether that be for requesting...

Loud, rugged speakers withstand rough treatment ; Alexa without the power cord is great ; Megablast lives up to its name in volume ; Charging dock is convenient

Services like Spotify over WiFi are missing ; Both speakers are expensive, and the dock costs extra ; Bluetooth and WiFi don't always coexist well ; Many familiar UE features are missing

Ultimate Ears Megablast Bluetooth speaker review: This Alexa-enabled speaker is loud and proud

Amazon's Alexa is inside the Ultimate Ears Megablast, but you'll never mistake this speaker for an Echo.

Plenty loud, with good bass response ; Amazon Alexa integration ; IP67 weather protection

Pricey ; Can't charge other mobile devices ; No speakerphone feature

The MegaBlast sounds better than many Bluetooth speakers, but I wouldn’t call it best of breed—at least when listened to on axis from short distances. It pumps bass, and is clear overall, but it might not cut through the background noise at a loud...

Ultimate Ears Megablast and Blast speaker review - better sound and now with Amazon Alexa onboard

Ultimate Ears is back with brand-new wireless portable speakers that offer impressive 360-degree sound and this time out they also have Amazon Alexa built right in. The Ultimate Ears Megablast and Blast have taken things up a notch from the previous...

Sleeker design, improved sound quality, rugged and water resistant, Amazon Alexa built-in.

Charge port hard to get to on the base

The Ultimate Ears speakers have always stood out from the crowd with signature sound, durable quality and stunning colours and the new Megablast and Blast have not only continued the trend but made it even better. The Ultimate Ears speakers have always...
