Netgear Arlo Q

Home-surveillance cameras have been around for years, but they've seldom been all that easy to set up and manage. Netgear is aiming to finally make it super-easy to do just that, and at the heart of that system is the Arlo Q.

This is a great home-surveillance camera that's ideal for those seeking a one-stop solution for indoor home security.

Netgear Arlo Q review

A well-made and smartly designed security camera

Neat and discrete design ; Basic cloud storage subscription is free ; Fully articulated and magnetic mount ; Reliable motion-triggered recording

Some setup woes ; No microSD card slot ; No Ethernet port

If you’re looking for a discrete and well-made IP camera to monitor your property in Full HD quality, this user-friendly indoor device could be just the ticket – and free 7-day cloud storage is a real boon, too.

The Arlo Q is the mid-range option in the Arlo range of smart home security cameras, sat between the high-end Arlo Q Plus and the Arlo Wire-Free. Here's our review.

Netgear Arlo Q review: Netgear's HD security camera comes close to besting Nest

Netgear's Arlo Q has Nest-Cam-esque specs with the addition of free cloud storage and activity zones, but can it beat the competition?

The Netgear Arlo Q is responsive and reliable, with a 1080p HD resolution, motion and sound alerts, two-way talk, night vision, activity zones and free 7-day event-based cloud storage (you can pay a monthly fee for continuous recording, as needed).

Netgear is behind the curve in terms of third-party integrations -- it doesn't currently have any -- and you can't log into the same account on more than one device at the same time. Both the Web and mobile apps could use a design update and the camera...

If you want a simple, straightforward indoor home security camera with top-of-the-line DIY specs and free cloud storage, Netgear's new Arlo Q is a safe bet.

Review: Arlo Q – A simple no frills solution for anyone who wants a security camera

There are plenty of security camera systems around. While NetGear is more known for their routers they also have a camera range called Arlo, which has three cameras on offer.[...]

There are plenty of options out there, but when it comes to a simple decent all round performance, this camera ticks all the boxes. A great choice for anyone looking for a simple no-frills options.

Arlo Adds a “Q” : NETGEAR Arlo Q

Following the release of its original Arlo™ home security camera system last year, NETGEAR has now produced the Arlo Q. This is a 1080p HD Security Camera that offers two-way audio features operating as an intercom.

The streamed image quality is good for both day and night work with a short delay in the actual delivery to a linked smartphone. The two-way audio also has the same time delay in the delivery of its content. With easy set up, good quality images and a...

Netgear Arlo Q

The Netgear Arlo Q is a pricey home security camera that delivers sharp, colorful 1080p daytime imagery and clear night vision video.

Easy to install. Detailed HD images. Good night vision. Email and push notifications. Free cloud storage. Supports IFTTT.

Pricey. Some response lag.

Conclusions Although it's a bit more expensive than most home Wi-Fi surveillance cameras, there's a lot to like about the Netgear Arlo Q. It provides sharp 1080p video, clear night vision, and a fairly wide 130-degree field of view. It also gives you...

Netgear Arlo Q home security camera review: A safe bet

Netgear launched itself into the home security camera space last year with its wireless-and weatherproof Arlo HD camera. Though it was a hit, the device made a number of concessions, including lower resolution, to enable its indoor/outdoor flexibility....

Customizable alerts ; Definable detection areas ; One week of free cloud storage ; Feels less sturdy than similarly priced cameras

Few differentiating features ; No battery backup

This is a solid camera with that won’t disappoint if you’re looking for straightforward security.
