Until now, many IP cameras required a separate computer to be left running in order to store recorded video, including D-Link's older DCS-932L IP camera. A better approach is to have a small single device dedicated to the task. So D-Link has added a...
For small businesses that need a few cameras just to keep an eye on things, D-Link's cameras and NVR are incredibly good value though when compared with professional surveillance systems. The video quality is just about good enough to compete too, and...

Whether you see it as step towards an Orwellian surveillance state or a necessary measure to ensure the protection of your home, there's no denying that DIY home security camera kits are big business these days. D-Link have recently launched a...
We really like the idea of affordable home security camera kits, and while on paper D-Link's DCS-942L fits the bill, in reality it is hard to recommend. While the mobile Android and iOS viewing options are commendable, little else here is. Cheaply...

30 fps framerate at all resolutions, Night vision worked to advertised distance and beyond, mydlink.com portal provides remote viewing with no router configuration
Soft plastic ball and socket pivot construction feels cheap, Night to day mode transitions were problematic, Need browser open to record video, Could benefit from more IR illumination
Cloud-enabled day/night IP cam with local SD recording

Firstly the setup instructions are rubbish. For the first wifi connection you need to plug in the Ethernet cable...not exactly plug and play ? I trialled this at home and was able to remove the cable but when I took it to its intended placement it will...
Consumer review (newegg.com)
The product has numerous bugs and I wasted more time with technical issues in both product's hardware and software. It is waste of time.
Night vision
Video recording does not work on micro SD card. I bought samsung Evo (best microsd available in market). My dlink app either on phone or computer can neither format the SD card, nor it can record the video. I will contact seller to refund my money soon.
Consumer review (newegg.com)
This is the second DLink camera I own, the first being a DCS-5009L. The 942L is similar in some instances, setup can be a little cumbersome if initially setup on a PC that does not have Java enabled. The camera needs to be plugged in to the router for...
No dropped signal Night Vision Apps for Android and iOS 2 way audio Motion detection and email alerts Remote viewing Local recording via SD card My Dlink is straightforward and simple to navigate around.
Single band N, no 5ghz. Complex setup if java not installed Low resolution of camera 480p Need access to advance settings in some cases (time and date set) Some settings do not keep, like microphone mute Recording to SD card makes no sense for security...

Inside the case the camera is powered by a Grain Media GM8126 SoC which has an embedded H.264 encoder as well as MPEG-4/JPEG and also manages the Ethernet connection. It has 128MB SDRAM and 16 MB flash and a single Ralink RT5370 b/g/n radio. The camera...
Review is for the A4 hardware version with latest 1.24 Firmware released 2/11/15 ; When you spend under 100 bucks for an IP cam you usually get VGA resolution. A good lens, in-camera storage recording, 30 fps because of H.264, dedicated passive IR...
The trend is toward HD resolution (but those cams are significantly higher priced and HD doesn’t work well over a cellular connection). Ball and socket pivot tends to drift if you connect both the Ethernet and the power cable. “Cloud” designation can...
