Kwikset Kevo review

Despite the fact that it's a breeze to install and boasts a handful of super-convenient features, Kevo's lack of compatibility with Android means most users won't be able to use them.

Kwikset Kevo Bluetooth Door Lock ( Satin Nickel)

Keys. Who needs 'em?

The Kwikset Kevo packs a lot of subtle smarts into a little device. The indoor/outdoor sensor worked flawlessly, never once letting us in when it shouldn't have.

The SmartKey deadbolt at the heart of the Kevo is too easy to break for a lock that costs $219. Also, phones that aren't equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 won't be able to interact with the Kevo.

If you've got a compatible smartphone, you'll enjoy this smart lock, but if you're looking for high security, look elsewhere.

Kwikset Kevo powered by UniKey Review

Our digital world is constantly expanding in many ways we can imagine. It seems as though every conceivable consumer electronics product is becoming “smart,” where they become a part of our never-ending digital world. From refrigerators to security...

iPhone acts as our key to unlock the Kevo ; eKeys allow us to give/remove authorization to users ; Ability to see a history of who is accessing the Kevo ; Battery life is rated for up to 1 year ; It retains the distinct look of a traditional deadbolt lock

Support is limited to the iPhone ; 220 cost is pretty tough to swallow ; Installation can be a process for those with no experience

Kwikset gladly refers to the Kevo as “the key evolved.” We undeniably agree with this statement, seeing that the Kevo is an evolutionary step to the usual deadbolt lock. Despite that, it doesn’t come cheap! Rather, the Kwikset Kevo sports a retail...

Kwikset Kevo 2nd Gen 925 KEVO2 DB 15 Review

Kwikset Kevo's unique design lets you automatically unlock the door by tapping the lock.

The lock doesn't track when keys unlock the door.

Kwikset Kevo's security features are not as robust as those of some other smart locks, but its unique convenience features are worth checking out.

Kwikset Kevo Smart Deadbolt Review: Convenience Doesn't Come Cheap

You're getting too old to still be losing your keys like this. Seriously, they were right there, in your hand, like a second ago. Time to jimmy the kitchen

While the steep price is definitely a turnoff, the promise of a future where you won't have to recite the keys-phone-wallet mantra when you leave or pat yourself down to find the key ring when you return makes the Kevo worth a shot, especially if...

The days of digging for my keys are over. So long as I have either the fob or my phone on me, doesn’t matter if it’s in my hand or at the bottom of my bag, getting through that door is as easy as twisting the knob. What used to take close to 20 seconds...

Review: Kwikset's new iPhone-compatible 'Kevo' keyless deadbolt lock

The home automation sector's move to the mainstream has introduced consumers to innovative new products from startups and industry stalwarts alike, one being the Kevo lock from Kwikset, a Bluetooth-enabled, touch-activated smart lock that lets owners...

Secure ; High quality lock mechanism ; Convenient eKey sharing

Operating lag time ; Finicky calibration ; Expensive

After using Kevo for over a week, we can't say that it's a life changer. But then, Kwikset never set out to start a revolution. What Kevo does is make life a little easier and, like any good product, doesn't cause frustration by being poorly executed....
