Xerox DocuMate 5460

 

The Xerox DocuMate 5460 scanner is a great fit for a medium-size office or workgroup with heavy-duty scan needs.

Fast, rated at 60 pages per minute and 120 images per minute. Includes highly capable application programs.

Front panel uses arbitrary number assignments for scan profiles instead of text.

As with the Xerox 5445, I'd like the Xerox DocuMate 5460 even more if it could recognize text at full speed (which some scanners can) and included an LCD that showed profile names instead of numbers. Even as it is, however, it's an impressive beast....

Truly Awful

 

I should have thrown out this doorstop of a scanner months ago but I don't out of sheer stubbornness because I wasted too much (nearly $1,000) to give up.

When it works (almost never) it is fast, and sometimes (when the moon is right) it provides excellent images

A high-speed scanner is not high-speed if it jams frequently or is unreliable about seeing all papers. This piece of junk does both, most of the time. I cannot rely upon it, so I need to check every scan to ensure it hasn't skipped pages. Replacing...
