Nice Lo-cost Scanner

Ended up I only really needed to install the drivers and the one touch application. Very easy for people in a small office to operate. Replaced a very old copy machine, one less machine to keep going. The scanner just sits on top of a computer case,...

1. Works good ; 2. Lo-cost ; 3. Easy to use, one touch copy button

Software install a little vague and led to some confusion ; Not the greatest quality but as good or better than my old copy machine was producing

Nice Scanner

I would have liked a photo feeder but for the price I'm sure not complaining.

For $20 I figured I could just throw it away if it didn't do the job. I bought it to scan perhaps 4,000 photos I have. I've done around 1,000 so far. Although it's not the fastest scanner in the world the photo scans are excellent

USB plug in is on the front which is kind of in the way

POOR - You get what you pay for

(original review was deleted due to my posting of a sample image to an image uploader...thanks newegg :( ) I have an older visioneer 8100 that still works like a champ. I was hoping the 7400 would replace it since it has win7 drivers, but I'm doomed to...

Low price. Has Win7 drivers. No external power brick needed (maybe this is also a con)

RMAed this scanner twice before I concluded it was just a bad scanner. The colors dither (orange becomes red and yellow dots) and scanning an image with black lines on white background created green and blue lines to appear around the black lines. (I...

Average Scanner but noisy

If you just need some scanner to get through the day, get this one. Not meant for scanning any serious documents/photos

Cheap. Good for scanning documents. Photos dont scan well

Too noisy for a scanner. Photos scanning not well. Color looks very unnatural

Good, highly portable scanner

Not sure how well I'd like this one if I intended to use it at the office or at home, but in the field it is an absolute wonder. In that environment, I VERY highly recommend it.

Lightweight, USB powered, 1200 dpi scanner that is IDEAL to pair with a netbook for archiving existing photos and/or documents when in the field, and inexpensive enough that you won't worry about taking it with you anywhere you go ; Very simple to use...

On a little Acer Aspire One it EATS the battery. On the Asus 901, it's nowhere near as bad, but it's still a good idea to plan ahead to have access to an additional power source for a laptop or netbook

Windows 7 64-bit Compatible?

It is listed on the MS Windows 7 compatibility site as being Win 7 64-bit compatible. A prior review here says it works fine with Win 7 Pro 64-bit, but there are no Win 7 drivers on the Visioneer site and Win 7 has no built-in driver for it. I...

Cheap, compact, Paperport 11 seems to be pretty good

location of USB port - front right-hand side. My old Canon had it on the back. Fortunately the supplied USB cable is long enough to reach my computer. A little slow, but you get what you pay for. I mainly got it to fax since my Canon scanner was not...

Basic scanning

I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit. The first thing I did was to download the updated Vista 64bit drivers from the Nuance website. This scanners does the basics. Don't expect a lot for $42.

Cheap ; Compact ; USB powered ; I have several medical issues and I needed to organize lots of medical documentation and receipts. This scanner allows me to put all this info on my laptop and I use the bundled PaperPort software to organize it

I was familiar with the Visioneer name because I had the original OneTouch scanner. This was in the days of Windows 98se. Their bundled software, PaperPort made by ScanSoft, was amazing. Then Nuance bought Scansoft and the support and quality of the...

No Windows 7 Drivers

Small, Cheap

Unable to use this, now that I have upgraded computer to Windows 7. Called and called customer support, it's always, "Check back next week, our engineers are working on it." I sincerely doubt this. How can they not have Windows 7 drivers? Even their...

Good if can get it installed

Default profile for the OCR option is "color photograph" which is wrong, doesn't work at all -- it must be reset to B&W. Additional configuration actions are needed to get this scanner set up properly and they are not intuitive -- you'll definately...

Can create a PDF from scanner. The "one touch" buttons are convenient. It's nice that no external power is needed. Small footprint

Installation under XP Prof (SP2) difficult (actually impossible except for assistance from other users). Screen 1 of install is MAIN MENU ; from MAIN MENU you select INSTALL which brings up screen 2 which provides options to install 3 products ; upon...
