Umax Astra 3400

An easy-to-use scanner capable of delivering fine-quality images.

Consider the bargain-priced Umax Astra 3400 a double treat for casual home and office users who want an easy-to-use scanner capable of delivering fine-quality images.

Consumer review (epinions.com)

If you see a bunch for sale on ebay, that must mean something.

I originally got this scanner to run under Windows 98. It worked adequately, although I never could get a good scan on photos. Every single one of them had stripes and lines all through them. I got the scanner used, so maybe that had something to do ...

Good price, good software bundle, adequate for faxing and documents.

Freezes up, bad-quality color scans, cannot get it to work with XP.

Find another brand

This is a scanner for the occasional user, not for someone looking for speed. The VistaScan software packaged with the scanner is probably one of the worst available in the marketplace. It's slow, not very intuitive, and lacking in sophistication for...

Inexpensive

Questionable software ; little or no tech support

Seems Good to Me

I thought a scanner would be a useful addition to my home PC, so I tried to find a steal on just anything. Well when the initial scanner a bought (a no-name brand I can't even recall) crashed my system (2-3 year old Gateway running Windows 98) and took...

Works fine as expected

Not super fast ; incompatible with XP

Good scanner at price

I bought this scanner to replace my Artec AT6 SCSI scanner, simply because I ran out of slots and wanted a USB device. I find that it scans well, though some of the photos suffer from banding, which is not in the photo itself. Other than that, OCR...

Cheap, USB, some good software

Warm-up routine before each scan, misleading specs

OK scanner, bad company

Good color, resolution. One-touch buttons.

Terrible customer support, not a good company.

OK scanner, bad company

The UMAX Astra 3400 is an OK scanner. But UMAX is one of the worst companies I have ever run in to in terms of customer support. First, about the scanner.

Good color, resolution. One-touch buttons.

Terrible customer support, not a good company.
