Easy, Effective, Imperfect

I've only had experience with flatbed photo scanners. As harsh as the cons I've listed are I still like this thing, it's quick, easy and I can digitize photos from a laptop while on the go visiting family. I was really hoping to be able to scan long...

Small, Quick, Easy, Works, Cheap, USB powered (draws 400mA).

Unfortunately there are several cons. The calibration function doesn't work, all photos are slightly distorted. The results are stretched and make everyone look fat. The scanning element isn't very high quality. Scans of photos taken on a bright sunny...

Don't trust the Plustek USB cable in the box

I also tried this scanner on a laptop XP 32 bit and it worked fine. I am amazed at how small this scanner is, it looks like something Ken & Barbie would use in their dollhouse so for your traveling setup this thing is perfect... it's lightweight and...

For Windows 7 64bit I used the updated driver from the manufacturer's website which installed very easy. Once I tossed the Plustek junk USB cable out and had a good workable USB cable installed in its place the setup was simple. Open the Plustek...

The Plustek cable is defective. I used an old spare I had in reserve and everything worked fine after changing out the cable. There was some dust on the scanner lens causing a streak through the first picture but after one cleaning the streak was gone....

Consumer review (newegg.com)

It's 600dpi not 300dpi.

For an scanner of small photos it does a good job and is worth the sale price of $59.99, but not $89.99. I would have given it a 5 star rating except for the photo frame changes.

Very good image quality. It is actually a 600dpi not a 300dpi as advertised . Easy to connect and operate

For some reason after about 30 scans, the image would not copy. I had to restart my computer to start scanning again. Also the the image frame would slip for no apparent reason, and it often took several tries to get an image lined up properly. There...
