Capable of scanning at up to 7200dpi and with new environmentally friendly features, and no warm up time, is the Opticfilm 7400 the ideal film scanner for those on a budget?
High resolution scans; Good value for money; Multi exposure feature with high contrast slides; Bundled software is easy to use; Padded carry case; Accurate colour reproduction
Supplied software wouldn't work with 64bit Windows 7

The Plustek OpticFilm 7400 offers high-quality scans, but you have to work with each image individually.
Claimed 7,200 pixel per inch optical resolution. Comes with sophisticated scan utility for high-quality scans.
Scans only one slide or frame of film at a time. Little to no automation in software. No hardware- based dust and scratch removal.

This is a very good specialized scanner. If you need to scan in 35mm slides this is an excellent choice, at a good price.

Look for a film scanner with automatic dust and scratch correction based on the hardware.

Over the last few years, I've migrated back to mostly film use and away from digital cameras. In spite of that, it's nice to have digital copies of all pictures for sharing online and to ease getting drugstore prints. That said, the quality of film...
Sharp & quick scans with faithful color, low price
35mm only, sometimes misaligned images on multi-pass, requires constant user interaction

Purchsed the 7400 Christmas 2009 and used it so far for several dozen 35mm images, a mixture of colour slide (Fuji Sensia), B&W negative (Ilford FP4) and colour negative (various). Overall impression is positive with an apparently well made unit which...

I have previously owned a Jenoptic 2100 which I thought was good for the price, but this Plustek just blew it out of the water! Negatives that had previously been unusable now give printable results thanks to the multi-scan tech.So far I have only used...

As a video professional we often get large slide to CDROM conversion jobs. For the holiday this year we were presented with close to 5,000 slides. We currently own a Plustek Opticfilm 7200 but with the amount of slides we have we bought the Pacific...
